I don't think we know yet if the CT battery will be replaceable or upgradable given that it's part of the structure.
Does anyone know anyone who has recycled their old car battery and gotten money for it? From what vehicle, what size pack, and how much did they get?
Can you elaborate on this? I didn't lose any miles from a full tank of gas from year 1 to year 10 on my current truck. The only decrease came when I put 35" tires on it. That was a few years ago and nothing has changed since. My previous F250 was the same and I kept the stock-size tires on...
Time will tell, but I don't think we can transition that fast. BEV sales were up to 5.7% in 2022 from 3.4% in 2021. I know if you run that out you'll hit 50% in 2026 or 2027, but then you'd hit 100% in 2028. No way.
I think 30% by 2030 for BEV and PHEV is very realistic.
3 EVs in the next 10 years isn't the way I buy and use vehicles. I might own 3-4 more trucks in my driving life over the next 40 years.
To your point of why wait; because I'm not buying the CT for any reason greater than financial sense and it barely fits that mold (for me). I'm not going to...
I really only look at what is coming when what is available isn't good enough or is barely good enough. I've always maintained the only EV truck for me is one that can get that 500+ mile range, AWD capable, and is a full-size truck. Right now there are 0 of those available for purchase today...
Is it just me and my news feed or are solid state batteries actually starting to make real headwinds. I see Mercedes among others are actually going to be using SS in some production vehicles. I know they are still expensive and cost prohibitive for mass production but I can't help but wonder...
"Only" is subjective. I still have a problem with that when about 1/2 of that degradation appears (per the graph) to be in the first 50k miles. I'm really hoping the 4680s perform better over the long term.
Given 500x94%=470 miles full to empty and we do not drive full to empty so 80% of that...
I've been there. Spent 15 months in Woomera, played baseball in Port Pirie, and spent a ton of time in Adelaide. Even watched the Crows repeat (I think in 99') as Champs. Pretty sure I still have a Crows beer can somewhere in my boxes of memorabilia.
How accurate do you find the range gauges to be? I know there are variables but generally speaking if it says you have 20 miles to 0 would you say that's right...or is it off by 25% (5 miles or so) when you get closer to empty? This always seems to be the case with ICE...or maybe that's just...
The tech is getting better but I still have some battery questions.
1. When an battery degrades does the cost per mile increase? I know some people here have said no, and to think about more like your gas tank shrinking. So it does not cost the same to "fuel up". I just want to confirm this...
