It somehow never occurred to me that the air suspension's "kneeling" function will make stowing gear on top of a rack much easier. A little too much height can make a big difference in the procedure used to load and tie down.
Now it suddenly occurs, that I would like the rack to be much taller...
I don't know about that rack. I'm going to haul two 40 foot ladders, (plus a 16 foot stage) which slide down to slightly over 20 feet. I want a rack length minimum of half of 20 feet. I want a rack NO LESS THAN TEN FEET in length.
Not sure exactly, but that rack seems slightly less than nine...
I wholly agree with Skilledroy. There must be a MINIMUM of ten feet between the front and rear rails. Twelve would be much better, but for some people, that still won't be enough.
Don't need a CyberShovel. Years ago I ebayed a few genuine Russian Titanium Shovels. I tell people.. "800 years...
I just don't see how a CT is going to replace this functionality I have today. These homemade racks are now on their fourth F150. They went from an '89. to a '99, to an '08 and now on a '17. All the one inch square tube steel parts are from a 1910's's bridge demolition and were in the Ohio...
Sorry, i didn't see you had mentioned launch night, making my last post somewhat redundant.
Also, i've got another Optic Delusion. The way the lowered tailgate has triangular corners can make it seem like it is lowered slightly below level. Or, is the tailgate a little narrower narrower at the...
That original Tesla roof rack image was shown on the screen behind Elon, at the CT unveiling event. It's a screen shot. It took a couple weeks for people to figure out there was a roof rack there at all. Looks like it may be a sail-pillar-toolbox image.
If you see a similar image that seems...
To safely carry a long load, you need the distance between the rack's front and rear bars to be a minimum of half the length of the object being carried.
The longest load I plan to carry is a forty foot ladder. A forty foot ladder in it's down position is approx 20'6". Meaning I need the rack to...
Ah, i was thinking the square near the back was another button for activating the vault door. Didn't see the square further up. They make the little slits up by the glass seem extra narrow, and I'm still not sure the slits are really meant to be attachment points.
Was looking for attachment points in the investor day video and found these little slits located directly above the B and C pillars. Are these they?
I couldn't find anything farther back.
It's about 20 seconds into the video, you'll need to embiggen to see the slits.
When I saw the way he pulled the ramp out at the unveiling, my first thought was "he's gonna smash his fingers on the ground"... and stowing the two sections of ramp away, that looks way too easy way to get your fingers pinched.
I would put a few dollars down on a bet that there will be a...
So the ladder rack was right there all the time... all I had to do was look. I've been fooled... again.
That also is the best pic of the inside of the sail pillar storage I've seen.
I wish the sail pillar door opened down instead of up. The doors on the toolboxes on my truck now make a very...
There is a button to control the vault door right where that left/rear post is, but I think we can get around it. I think maybe there's one of those buttons on the passenger side too.
The exact height of anything sticking out the back is a pivotal point. I'd prefer those boards to be at least...
Another thread indicates there will may be some kind of stopper in the tailgate to keep the plywood/drywall from sliding out the back, but at 57 inches wide, we also need something to stop it from sliding side-to-side...
