One more thing is the sensor for activation. I ran a longer wire through the bottom of the tailgate and installed it on top of where the trailer hitch would go with Velcro tape it works good. You cannot see the sensor and the tailgates closed and it’s a very simple activation
Ken- did you just splice the existing IR Sensor wire or is there an extension available from Spirit Halloween

@Nexus6 I think I might do this same thing over the weekend. It'll be nice to have the flexibility if nothing else.
FYI - the controller has a (what looks to be) 3.5mm jack for the step-pad or "try me" buttons so I wonder if you could buy something that will manually trigger everything as well.

I’m sure we could use either Rasberry Pi or Arduino to create some type of Macro Functionality switch or trigger.
I have never taken the dive down the rabbit hole but I’m sure someone on this forum is familiar with programming one of these platforms.

"Hey Grok - hook me up with some code!" This sounds like it could be a fun project haha
We could probably find some type of Arduino Microswitch mounted near the Tonneau cover so that as soon as the Tonneau is opened to a specified clearance distance power is applied to the Lift and animatronic Cerberus so we could launch the whole thing from the Tesla App remotely or while driving from the screen.

One could pull that data from the Tesla API as well.

I’m glad I don’t play in your guys sandboxes because you’re too technical for me, but I will follow the idea. I just did the remote for the fog because it pissed off so many people I had to turn it off at restaurants and stores.

Haha same here! I originally had it wired to the animatronic but the fog would keep going off and for the entire duration. The remote fixed it and I think the effect of fog bursts is cooler anyway. Now we drive around with the heads moving and wait to park in parking lots to use the fog.

The
Ken- what was your experience with the fog?
Did you have a lot of sticky residue after using it?

I ended up ordering this one. We’ll see if I can adapt it so everything can be retracted and stowed under the tonneau cover.

The too of this lift was around 24” at its lowest and it needs to be less than 21” to close the Tonneau. Going to return this one and try this lift table instead. https://a.co/d/8i597vH

Are you looking to turn or angle the Cerberus as well? Or maybe detach the legs. Its a little tall as it is and the tonneau hits the top of the head and ears even if its back all the way to the highest point of the tonneau

I’m planning to detach the legs and mount the base with the heads on this lift so when I open the tonneau I can simply raise the lift with the remote. Basically just the torso and head are exposed above the Tailgate.

Hurry up and build it!
I’d love to be able to close cover and then just lift it!
