Here is a snapshot of my CT's battery pack yesterday evening, shortly after it finished charging (following a one-hour drive). Ambient temp was falling, around 38F at the time of the snapshot:
Here is a followup snapshot, taken early this morning, after the (sleeping-the-entire-time) truck's pack had cold-soaked for ~14 hours. Ambient temp slowly declined throughout the night, and was 23F at the time of the snapshot:
Thermal change in the CT's pack does not happen particularly quickly, in either direction. But this gives some idea of what many of us are looking at during cold weather. My truck is kept outdoors (no garage).
The takeaways I'd point to are that pack heating (by turning on cabin climate) will take considerable time. And that the "SOC" presented on the truck's display and in the Tesla app have dropped 5%. Rated range has dropped by 17 miles.
That 5% and 17 miles aren't actually lost. They are simply unavailable because of the pack's temperature. As the pack warms, those miles are released (and again show up on the vehicle's display).
