Hey Everyone, anyone managed to “wrap” or turn their CT Steering wheel to Alcantara? I know a ton of companies offer these for Model 3 and all…

I would recommend against it. During cold weather the Cybertruck's heated steering wheel gets warm really quickly and contributes to a feeling of warmth and comfort. They all come with automatically heated steering wheels at no extra charge. Wrapping it will isolate you from this feature, make it take longer to warm up, and transfer less heat to your hands.

Interesting, even if it’s re-wrapped!? Like stripped down and wrapped, not on top of what’s there already.

?

I had a Porsche Macan with a heated steering wheel and covered (outside the OEM leather) it with a stitched on Alcantara cover and it had no noticeable impact on the heating performance.

Yes, on a cold morning an Alcantara cover will act as insultation and slow down the heat transfer to your hands.

Simple physics.

It will still get warm, it will just take longer.

Why don't you customize the steering wheel like that and let us know what you learn? I have better things to spend my time on, the OEM steering wheel is great. Maybe after it has 200,000 miles on it I will want to freshen it up but, in the interim, I'm not really looking for busy work.

Has anyone looked at an Alcantara steering wheel after a couple of years of use? I opted for the leather steering wheel instead of Alcantara on my GT4 and I am so glad that I did so. Every other steering wheel I see on a GT4 has darkish areas where the hands usually are, I assume from oil and dirt transfer from the hands, and the material itself gets matted over time and just doesn't look/feel very nice. I would keep the Cybertruck steering wheel stock or at best buy a different alcantara wheel and use it until it gets dirty and matted and then go back to your original that you saved. :)

It should be cleaned as often as leather to maintain life, but I agree that it doesn't wear nearly as well.
