I’m 70, now. Which means I’ve been driving non-Teslas for 50 years. I picked up my Cybertruck the day after Christmas last year, and drive it for road trips (one, so far), truck stuff (items too large for the Model Y), and when I need to leave the Model Y for my bride. Going from two stalks to none was an adjustment, but now I find the Model Y annoying.

All that to say adjusting to the Cybertruck way of doing things does take a little time, but not enough for me to stick clues on the steering squircle. I signal turns, turn on the wiper, use voice commands, and activate FSD all without taking my eyes off the road. Maybe it’s because I learned touch typing on a manual typewriter in Junior High …

Looks cool! Thinking of bedazzling my screen. ?
Just don't bedazzle the center of your squircle unless you enjoy homemade claymores to the face.

OK, the CT is awesome. But I always felt there should be button "locations" on the steering wheel. So, I bought these gem stickers on Amazon. After 3 weeks, I will continue to use them. I placed 3 on the left side (left turn signal, right turn signal, & high beams), and 3 on the right side (front camera, wipers, & mic commands). These helped me to adapt so much better to the CT steering wheel controls. :) See image. These stick-on plastic gems are approximately .200" diameter & .080" high.

FYI, there are way too many gem stickers in this under $7 pack. But you can customize as you please..... :p

Wipe down surfaces with alcohol before applying, that will make them stick with no problem.

For those of you who don’t want to bedazzle your Cybertruck, go this route instead. They’re tiny glow in the dark dots, not gemstones… unless you’re into that. Then you still have 800pcs leftover to put stars on the glass and roof liner (Rolls Royce eat your heart out). I had to do the same thing on my microwave drawer at home. Need that tactile element so I don’t have to look at what I’m doing. ?

My spouse did this to her drawing tablet and guitar amp, although she used gel paint. Her older keyboard she used the gems for but decided the glow in the dark paint worked better for glancing in low, blue, light. Her amp also has color matched neon paints for the different cables and knobs, too.

Nice seeing you guys getting into personalizing your UI!

Maybe it’s because I learned touch typing on a manual typewriter in Junior High …
Still need to find home row, though, which that's what the texture dots do.

I don’t think you need that. It’s complicating a feature that already exists. In just the same way that every key on a keyboard doesn’t need “gems” you just feel for the “F” and “J” to center your hands, you feel for the line that separates the buttons. Essentially there are 3 buttons if you don’t really use voice commands. The left side is left/right so if you think down is left and up is right just like a stalk you’ll have no problem finding them with the line as your reference. When I go back and forth between stalks and buttons I’m not forced to think about it so I wouldn’t add an extra layer to the learning process since that separating line serves a tactile purpose.

Those young ones, eh? ? Too much computer games.

I am 70 also. Got my CT last year 30 August. First EV, first truck. Dropped of my Mustang as a trade in, drove off the Tesla lot in my CT. Needed maybe a week to adjust on finding the right buttons. Last week got a Y as a loaner when my truck was in service. A stalk for directions, a stalk for D and R, a button in the stalk for P. Just so unnecessary complex. Was happy to get in the CT again.

So red and green jewels like the left and right of an airplane. Bright white for high beams. Blue for water/wipers and then the yellow is for the mic. I like it.
Except for the fact that a ship or airplane has the red on the left or port side and the green is on the right or starboard side. OP has them reversed on his squircle.

I always remind my kids that port has four letters like left and my brain still didn’t register that.

Good idea. I would use 2 black gems. One for the high beams, and the other for the wipers.
