Looking at wheels and love the look of the 22’s but concerned with ride quality. We just went from a Model 3 LR to a Model 3 Performance with lower profile tires and definitely feel the difference.

Has anyone gone with 22’s and feel the ride quality has diminished?

Yeah, I kinda figured the difference would be negligible. But Ive got analysis paralysis trying to build this thing out for myself. I just need to pull the trigger and move on.

Going from a 65 sidewall to a 50-55 sidewall is most definitely going to be noticeable. How much is gonna vary by driver and the actual tires you purchase with the wheels they sit on and their offset. The poster above decreased their tire circumference overall, and if you’re only driving on city streets doing 30-55mph you may never feel it but on the freeway or any imperfect road you’ll certainly notice the difference in ride quality… but it may not matter if you like the looks. I bought a set of Mud Terrains for my lifted truck when I was younger only because of how aggressive they were and traction in snow be damned.

Keep in mind, the proportional change in sidewall height will be much less due to the much larger inital height.

Tire and sidewall height:
Model 3 18: 4.2"
Model 3 19: 3.7"
Model 3 20: 3.2"

Cybertruck 20: 7.3"
Cybertruck 22: 6.2" 285/55R22

Oh man, did you just bring some actual math into the mix for me to get deeper into my analysis paralysis. Shit, until now this was a “feel” and gut thing. lol

Seriously, though, perhaps our experience with our M3 isn’t a good one to compare. But I am concerned with ride quality. Maybe I’ve just aged out of being willing to tolerate lower ride quality for good looks. Just trying to find the right balance.

Mud terrain tires will always be louder and feel more bumpy so to speak then AT tires. I’ve driven at 80 and it’s fine. If we are being nit picky yeah the AT with a 55 side walls are going to be a little different then the 65 side wall tires but when we are taking about a tire this size along with a cush air suspension it really isn’t that significant of a change . I agree if the op goes with “Mud terrains it will feel bumpy slowing down at lights and leaving them along with road noise. But ATs not much.

Stock is 285/65/20 . I did 295/55/22 here is a photo of the defense . The side wall is just under a 1” smaller (0.91)
we are talking about a truck that has a nice soft air suspension . Ok if you Drive around in silence possibly you will hear a slight sound difference with your ear to the ground but who does that ? Ride comfort I can’t feel a difference.
I would go with a 295/55/22 over a 285/55/22 also including a photo of the difference (1.12). It will fill up your wheel well just a bit more and also give you a little more side wall so less of a difference then stock

I definitely would not go with MTs. I'd be more likely to go with a fairly "streetable" AT like the BFG KO3s. Honestly what I really want is a tire that is mostly pavement friendly and quiet but has sidewalls that look a little more "off-road". Yes, maybe I should wrap the truck in pink PPF, too. lol (<<-- Getting out ahead of the criticism)

That’s exactly what I wanted. The stock tires just didn’t look aggressive enough for me. Most of the AT’s these days are pretty well engineered to be road friendly. I’ve had 3 sets of Toyo at111. 2 on my Chevy duramax so I already new they were nice on the road and last along time.
I’ve hear good things about the KOs. The falcons look good also. I think the nitto grapplers might be the noisiest and last less then the other 3 from what I’ve read

When filling wheel well, be aware of the clearance to the top bolt. It's about 0.6 of an inch away on stock all Terrains. You're only 0.1 closer, but a few percent shift could impinge.

All good here. I’ve seen many go with a 35.12.5 so I knew I would be fine.
