Hey all,

Does anyone know why so few Beasts are being produced versus AWD? The discrepancy between delivery estimates of the two different models is quite substantial.

Are they produced on the same line or separate lines? If on the same line is there a reason why more AWD’s are produced.

Before production started I was thinking that Tesla was going to produce more of the highest end model and work their way down to capitalize on margins. Mabey the Beast is more complex and the extra time it takes negated the importance of prioritizing it…

Anyways thanks for reading my shower thoughts.

Goodnight!

As someone who has an X plaid and was thinking beast I’ll give you my opinion.

I don’t think the cyberbeast has enough value to me. When I bought the X vs the Y it was because the third row was actually usable, I wanted a smoother more luxurious ride, and air conditioned seats. I bought the plaid because at the time it was $10k more. $89,990 vs $79,990. We wanted 6 seats and that was a $6500 upgrade over 7 seating, but was standard on plaid. So essentially plaid cost me $3500 more considering seat upgrade cost on the non plaid. A veritable steal imho.

why do I bring all this up? Because to me, and I think many others, $20k extra for the beast is just too steep when all you get is speed. Don’t get me wrong, for some they have to have the best and fastest, and for some money is truly no object. But I’d argue that most people will see ~4 sec 0-60 as plenty fast and be happy with AWD.

it also gets delivered faster and to be honest getting this truck earlier is kind of fun for the “celebrity effect” although I’m sure that will quickly fade as more hit the streets in the coming months!

I think Tesla knows this and wants to run FS as long as they can so they’re delivering to the largest pool of committed buyers first. Just my 2 cents at least.

I got a Beast and when I picked it up the service center manager told me that they only had delivered a handful. He stated maybe less than 10%. I picked mine at marina del Rey (Los Angeles area).

Sound reasoning and I appreciate your insight. I think AWD is attractive in the near term and think Beast will become a great option down the road when range is improved!

The reason is because of the battery limitability and profit. They’d rather use that 3rd battery from the Beast and apply it to another AWD.
The Beast has an additional battery? Can you elaborate I haven’t heard about this

Pretty sure that’s a typo and they meant motor.

Nobody knows but my thinking is that AWD demand is obviously more than Beast. They will produce whatever sells first, so that they can generate good revenue. Once AWD demand normalizes, they will start cranking more Beasts, but nobody knows what the timelines look like. My guess is that once FS series ends, they will start making AWD and Beasts in the same ratio, probably a bit more Beasts. One of the Tesla reps in SC said the same to me - after FS, they will start making more Beasts. Take all of this with a grain of salt, as all these are wild speculations without any authentic source.
