I’m in the market for wheels. I’ve bought a few aftermarket wheels for trucks before but never noticed such huge swings in prices. I’m pretty sure I bought both sets for an F-150 and my wife’s H3 at 4WheelParts.

The wheels I’m most interested in for my CT are from Unplugged Performance and T-Sportline. In both cases I’m looking at over $1000 per wheel, more for 22’s. So I’m looking at something like $5-7k for 22” wheels and tires. I’m not ruling it out, but man that stings.

Of course I can find cheaper stuff on the interwebs that may not look as good, but presumably do the same thing (support a tire and allow me to drive down the road, lol).

I seriously want to learn about the value of higher end aftermarket wheels. Design and brand mean something (to some people), build quality, attention to detail, finish, durability, warranty, etc all contribute as well. And all of perceive value in each of these areas differently. Why do they all brag about forged wheels? What’s an UNforged wheel do differently?

I’m not planning to race the Baja 1000 with my truck. It will mostly be my daily driver on pavement.

And considering site sponsors are some of these sellers, I’d love to hear from you to help us less knowledgable spenders understand.

The biggest thing to worry about is weight load rating when considering rims. I think 2650lbs is minimum required. Also unplugged performance don’t even have wheels they can sell you. It’s basically vaporware

I’ll have to pay closer attention to the load ratings. I just assumed they’d all be able to support a truck, but I know this thing weighs quite a bit more than my old F-150.

And yes, as for UP wheels, I’m aware they’re backordered. Though I’d give them the benefit of the doubt that, as a reputable company, they’d come through eventually. But this goes back to my question which is, other than design differences, is there much difference between a UP wheel, a T-Sportline wheel, and the “snowflake” wheel I see on Amazon for 80% less $$?

The only wheels worth that much are magnesium or carbon fiber, of which neither of them are.

I’d just keep the stock wheels….methods are the go to for raptors, not sure how they would look on the CT. I’m not changing mine out.

There's alot of ways to make wheels, some of them really expensive, and all of them expensive when you're only making a few of them.

So wheel prices are all over the map.

The company you mentioned has outrages prices on most of there stuff so it’s like buying Gucci of cyber after market . If you invest enough time searching and researching you will be able to find somthing very similar for much cheaper. People think it has to say “for the CT” but really it just needs to match the CT bolt pattern and have an offset you like.. some places also have the ability to drill out your bolt pattern on a blank .

I’m not interested in the Tesla options, but thanks.

Yep, very aware of this.

I guess what it boils down to is I’d like someone to explain the higher prices of these brands. Oftentimes brands that people accuse of being overpriced are not just grabbing more money for the same product (though of course sometimes they are), but are using better materials, offering better warranties and support, etc.

I’d love to see the site sponsors mentioned here chime in with some perspective.

I thought I did explain the hire price. ?. It’s a new truck so the market isn’t flooded yet so they don’t have as much competition also the few company’s you are talking about specialize in Tesla stuff so they are always going to charge more based on there reputation in the after market Tesla community. Sure some of there stuff is better but some is the same. You will always have your people who want to put the top brand company on there 100k truck and they know that you paid 100k for the truck so you can afford to pay 8k for a bumper ?

Hi @BrokenAxle!

Wanted to chime in here and provide some insight on some of the points you brought up. I don't think that our wheels are priced far out from any competitors. Our 18" UP-03 beadlocks are priced at $4995 for the set as where other competitors beadlocks are similarly priced at $4095. Understanding this, what really stands us apart from majority of the brands who offer wheels is our warranty policy surrounding our products.

All of our forged wheels come with a lifetime warranty, exclusive to the original purchaser and there is no exception to using our wheels on the track or even out in the Arctic. Nonetheless, I would be happy to chat with you to figure out what's the best wheel for you. If not, completely understandable, but I would like to be here to help with that search.
