I’m in the market for wheels. I’ve bought a few aftermarket wheels for trucks before but never noticed such huge swings in prices. I’m pretty sure I bought both sets for an F-150 and my wife’s H3 at 4WheelParts.
The wheels I’m most interested in for my CT are from Unplugged Performance and T-Sportline. In both cases I’m looking at over $1000 per wheel, more for 22’s. So I’m looking at something like $5-7k for 22” wheels and tires. I’m not ruling it out, but man that stings.
Of course I can find cheaper stuff on the interwebs that may not look as good, but presumably do the same thing (support a tire and allow me to drive down the road, lol).
I seriously want to learn about the value of higher end aftermarket wheels. Design and brand mean something (to some people), build quality, attention to detail, finish, durability, warranty, etc all contribute as well. And all of perceive value in each of these areas differently. Why do they all brag about forged wheels? What’s an UNforged wheel do differently?
I’m not planning to race the Baja 1000 with my truck. It will mostly be my daily driver on pavement.
And considering site sponsors are some of these sellers, I’d love to hear from you to help us less knowledgable spenders understand.
