I've been waiting for my order number to come up. When I check, Tesla says I can either get a two-motor in October or the "Beast" in January 2025. Am I just supposed to wait until I receive an email asking me what I want to do?

So far no one has done a non-FS model, so we cant be 100% certain, but in general the Tesla buying experience is roughly the same for all their vehicles.

1) You get notified you can complete you order.
2) Log in and select your options.
3) Read the contract.
4) Accept the order.
*) Unknown delay before you get a VIN.
5) The Tesla app will update you with next steps.
6) You pick a delivery date
7) Finalize the payment details (you can apply for a loan through the app or pay in full)
8) Depending on your state you may need insurance on/before the delivery date.
9) Final payment must be made before delivery (Wire transfer of the down payment)

Its pretty easy.... unless you go outside the narrow path that Tesla outlines. If you need help with special considerations for the financing, trade in, delivery date or anything expect a hassle of calling a lot of people and broken promises. You literally cannot trust anything anyone tells you and you will never be able to speak to the same person twice.

But you should be fine! You do not need to do any steps after 4 until you get a VIN, then the clock is ticking.
