Charging while towing

So how does this actually work...like if I'm towing a boat or trailer and need to charge do I have to unhook the thing I'm towing then go charge and then hook back up?

It depends on the charger. Sometimes no, sometimes yes.
My wife got to the point of dropping or hitching the boat only take 2-3 minutes.
