Yes they can ban you. Here is a snippet from the Terms and Conditions. "To be clear, paid advertising, selling or paying or offering incentives for use of referral links is not appropriate, and we will not honor referral links associated with behavior that violates these Terms and Conditions. Customers who have violated any Tesla policy are disqualified from this program. Additionally, we reserve the right to withhold benefits where we believe customers are acting in bad faith or otherwise acting contrary to the intent of this program".

I created an account and don't think I entered a payment method. when I logged in again to add the parent method it makes me put my referral code in again and then it says it is already in use. Not sure if you are using my referral code or not?!?
Sorry to hear you're having issues signing up. Based on your description, you likely used a different email when trying to login to the system the second time. Please DM us or email us at support at theteslaref.com and we'll try to troubleshoot your case. Your referral code will not be activated until a payment method is added.

@theteslaref - so do we issue you a 1099 for half the amount?
It's true that the credits may be subject to federal taxes. Everyone's tax rates are different, making earlier posts and discussions on this topic not applicable to all cases. Even with taxes applied, this is still a net benefit that you would likely not otherwise realize. The Tesla Ref pays taxes on any profit margin as part of usual business.

Consult with your tax advisor and provide payment receipts to potentially offset the credit income. As an informational point only, some of our clients have decided not to provide Tesla with their tax information when Tesla requests it at year end reporting time.

Your Tesla referral credits are subject to Tesla's terms and conditions, which are clearly mentioned and linked on our site. We additionally advise of this point in our own terms of service as well.

As stated here, the maximum risk is that you lose your credits. No client of ours has ever experienced this action from Tesla, and we are unaware of any verified nor reported cases of this in recent years external to The Tesla Ref services. Your code is only exposed to such actions while we are actively working to consume it.

If any client of ours experiences forfeiture of their credits for this reason, we will gladly refund our charges.

We take clients in order of sign up, so go ahead! We're currently about 4 weeks out, though this can change significantly depending on demand and velocity.

Hey CT Owners 👋

Quick follow-up to the post from earlier this month about getting your referrals — the momentum on the buyer side has been better than we expected.

The short version: buyer demand for new Teslas is hot right now, and several Cybertruck owners from this forum have already gained all 10 of their 2026 referral slots through us. That's $2,500 in Tesla credits — for the year — already in their account or soon to be delivered to their accounts before we hit mid-May. We're seeing many referrals roll in each day.

👉 Want all 10 of your referrals? Let us do the work for you: https://theteslaref.com/

Why this is moving

We've watched our referral queue turn over faster in the last two weeks than at any point earlier this year. Cybertruck remains in the US referral program alongside Model 3 and Model Y. FSD v14 continues to gain accolades and subscriber uptake, making the referral program's 3-months of free FSD attractive to new buyers.

What's in it for you (and buyers) right now

  • $250 in Tesla credits per qualifying delivery (referrer side)
  • 3 months of free Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for the buyer — Cybertruck Premium AWD and Cyberbeast trims
  • Stackable with Tesla loyalty, teacher, military, and select state incentives
  • 10 referrals per calendar year — the counter resets every January

What we do

Same as before — you give us your code, we get it in front of new Tesla buyers who are looking for one, you collect the $250 credit per delivery. Flat fee per placement, no monthly subscription, no contracts, no DM spam on your end.

If you want in before the next wave

Eight months still left in the 2026 program year. If you'd rather have your 10 referrals used than expired, this is a good moment to get into the queue. The pace from the last two weeks isn't slowing down. But Tesla can end the program at any time, so don't lose your chance!

Check out comments on our prior posts for the many happy clients we've helped from this forum. We'd love to help you next!

I'm guessing 1099s for purchases over $600 in a year using referral credits still go to the person who gave the refresh link, not your business? Or how does that work?

Update 6/30: any reply on this Tesla Ref?

I got all 10 referrals filled pretty quickly, but so far only 2 have delivered in the last 30 days. Hopefully the other 8 didn’t back out. They’ve been filled for a few weeks now, and it’s all 3’s and Y’s, I would have thought those would deliver by EOQ.

Thanks for the feedback, Tom! Based on our prior clients' experience, we usually see deliveries in 2-4 weeks, but they sometimes go longer. We're also noticing that referrals from Europe tend to have longer delivery times, and yours particularly were mainly used by European buyers.

We guarantee the referral at 90 days, so if you do not see delivery yet after 90 days from the referral date, please get in contact with us by email.

Thanks!

I did this last year and this year, so ended up with $2,500 in my Tesla account. It is free money folks. I understand the implicit risks, but nothing nefarious occurred. REM and a few others here disapprove on moral efficacy grounds, but I see no issue.

The way I see it, this is like having free supercharging, plus new tires every couple years, gratis. Worked like a charm. As it stands, I have about $1,800 left, which will buy the grandkids a Cyberquad for Christmas later this year. I had a couple hiccups with buyers not taking delivery, all resolved quickly, and communication with teslaref worked well, with an email to fix those issues, puls I have temporarily suspended participation in order to ensure I will use all credits before they expire, then will re-up. If I decide to replace the current CT I will immediately restart - it took about 60 days each time to fill the 10 annual slots, so I will re-enter the queue when/if I place an order.

Glad to hear that David, and thank you for the great feedback! Enjoy those credits and the grandkids are going to look super cool in their new Cyberquad later this year

Just a reminder that you can use the credits on:
- Supercharging: change your supercharging payment method to your Tesla credits
- Service: It's not available at time of quote, but at final payment approval, you can switch it to credits. Useful if something comes up that takes you to the service center.
- And you already know, you can use them on the Tesla store and as a deduction for a new vehicle.
