So I was having trouble with my B-pillar cameras (the vertical glass piece between the doors). Somehow moisture was getting inside resulting in permanent spidering and/or film on the inside of the glass in front of the camera lens. Hard to show, but here is an example of one side. The other side didn't have this spidering, but it did have a smeared film on the inside of the glass...
It resulted in as message showing up quite a bit, which disabled my FSD, resulting in the red steering wheel screen and the alarm going off:
I reached out to Tesla Service and they had me bring it in for service. According to the service center, the original B-pillars were sealed components. You can't open them up without breaking them apart and the entire assembly needs to be replaced. Since then, they told me Tesla redesigned them to be more serviceable.
Tesla replaced both B-pillar appliques (apparently the latest for left side ends in a D, the latest for right side ends in an F). They also cleaned my forward camera behind the windshield, replaced my halfshaft bolts, and addressed an air leak near the driver side rearview mirror. Completely silent now at high speeds. All of the above at no charge!!!
Completely unrelated, but they gave me a 2025 AWD CT as a loaner for the weekend. While it was ok, I found it made a "clunk" sound when initially accelerating from a stop, which was extremely annoying. I also didn't like the plastic dashboard which reflected sunlight, less comfortable seats, and it just felt like a downgrade overall, especially speed-wise. So happy I bought the beast model!!!
