Honest question.
My BS detector is starting to tingle.

Reservation holders were told it would take years to get the Cybertruck, especially after the Foundation series ended.
Nobody from Tesla ever said it would take years for a reservation holder to get their Cybertruck. What they did do was tell us how many fully refundable deposits they were holding and how many they planned to build.

People then started making irresponsible assumptions about how many would actually order as soon as invited and you know what they say about assumptions! Tesla has been totally upfront and honest about this.

Honest question.

Reservation holders were told it would take years to get the Cybertruck, especially after the Foundation series ended. You can already get a non foundation series delivered within a few weeks, without any reservation at all. What happened? There was a couple million reservation holders who obviously all backed out. Is Tesla going to have to dramatically drop the prices to sell these trucks?
Kyle. This being your first post, it kinda reads like you crawled in through the vents from Cyberstuck reddit are -honestly- here to shit post. Maybe not? I hope not. But it's not a good start.

Either way, if you haven't yet, and so far to me it sounds like you haven't, go test drive Cybertruck and come back.

Cheers.

Forgive the cyber squad, they are quick to defend their holy relic (CT), their country (TSLA), and their god (Elon).

To answer your question it was mostly community theory that assumed it would take years. Teslas has typically been focused on production rate. There has definitely been some demand cooling, probably due to price, etc. The reservations were a poor indicator of demand as many people had multiple reservations, myself included, but likely purchased fewer CTs.

It’s still a great vehicle, you should test one!

Huh?

The truth should be defended. The question made it sound like Tesla had projected a multi-year wait. In reality, a lot of people just don't understand what a $100, fully refundable deposit actually means. It doesn't mean they WILL buy a new vehicle as soon as it's ready. I was projecting a very low conversion rate of the $100 deposits, especially after Tesla announced how much more the Cybertruck would cost relative to 2019 reveal price projections.

Trying to turn this into Elon being a deity, and the Cybertruck being a holy relic, just makes you look like a name-caller trying to stir up conflict. Seriously, what does this have to do with religion? We are talking about supply and demand at release pricing, not religion.

Took a total of three weeks to receive mine from the day I was notified my place in line was called. Thankfully the first week was my TurkeyDay vacation which helped the time pass..

Two years after my reservation was placed and many ‘reports’ of issues, problems, fails and long anticipated waiting here in the forums and I have no regrets. I’m grateful I have had no major problems.

my second Tesla and the best vehicle I have ever owned. I think of it as the Common Man’s Countach… CounTruck?! ?

…it is great!!

And Lord knows I’m quick to call out the hero-worship nonsense when I think I’m seeing it, but this is not that. This is a 100% loaded question and the responses to it are largely fair, in my opinion.

Even for responses that are arguably a little bit harsh, kinda has to be expected when you come in sideways like this pretending to be “just asking questions.“
