If the IRS has the CT AWD listed for -$7500 it will either enable Tesla to perform the point of sale deduction
Or if IRS is a yes and Tesla is a no, due to confusion, then it will be a tax credit on the 2025 tax return like we had in 2023
Won’t see the savings until 2026

am I wrong?
Not correct. Since 2024, all vehicle sales must be run through the IRS portal to be eligible for any Clean Vehicle Credit whether time of sale or time of filing.

It's stated on the IRS website, must be date of delivery. They even go as far as saying you should obtain the portal confirmation forms from the vendor before delivery.

I don't see that changing as it's clear.

I wonder if the lack of listing EV credit as an option from Tesla is related to the recent issues with battery pack and suspension of deliveries versus anything else.

Right, by sales I meant delivery, not ordering. My point being if Tesla doesn't offer time of sale credit transfer, they aren't entering the transaction in the portal, and the buyer can't claim the credit at tax filing time. No IRS yes, Tesla no, is a no credit situation, notv a deffered credit one.
In reality, the IRS gets all eligibility data from Tesla, so there wouldn't be a situation where the IRS would give a credit Tesla when wouldn't.

I'm guessing they are still working through the ineligible battery packs.

People are posting delivery holds to exchange their battery pack. Do you have any thoughts about that? Not specifically related to the EV credit, but more broadly what's going on here. I don't understand how that plays in to everything else, or even if it does. Totally guessing, but I assume it's not a defect issue otherwise they would be recalling others. I assume it's not related to the EV credit as best I can tell some people on delivery holds aren't qualifying for the credit. Confused.

There were rumors of dented cells a week or so ago. They may have a quality issue with the packs. OTOH there aren't any new recall postings about it, so it might be a non-safety performance issue instead?
I agree, it's likely not credit related, unless these vehicles accidentally received eligible packs and were supposed to get ineligible ones (esp if there is a range difference)?

still no update to the ev credit on this. The customer service at tesla with there response is a joke. from my understanding, the 2024 cybertrucks will never quailify, 2025 and newer
