Hey everyone — curious to get some feedback from folks here.

I’m considering leasing a Cybertruck as more of a daily pleasure vehicle here in New York City. I’d be parking it on the street (no private driveway or garage), so charging would be strictly through public chargers. The closest Supercharger I’d have access to Gravity on 42nd Street which proves to be a phenomenal option for charging but still have to wait the 45 mins-1hr to get it fully charged.

The size of the truck for NYC street parking is a bit of a concern, though not necessarily a dealbreaker. I’m more curious to hear from anyone who owns a Cybertruck or any EV in NYC — how’s your experience been with public charging availability, parking logistics, and general day-to-day practicality? The money is not as much of a concern, just really love the car and the FSD is truly life changing. If someone does have the CT in NYC, do you always use Sentry mode? It seems like the vandalizing in NYC has stopped a bit but figured i would ask because it does drain the battery

Would love to hear your thoughts, pros/cons, and if anyone else has tackled this before committing.

Thanks in advance!

I've seen a few rolling around NYC with NYS plates which doesn't prove they liven the city. I live on the UWS and there's one I see parked on 67th between Columbus and Central Park West. I'm fortunate I have a deeded spot in my building but my CT is at my place in central NJ. I have an EV in NYC but I don't charge in my garage. The price is ridiculous so I hit pubic charging or do it when I drive it to my house in NJ.

I'm not sure what neighborhood you're in so don't know the parking situation but some areas are much more difficult to find space than others.

GL with whatever you decide. You certainly won't be disappointed by the vehicle if you decide to go forward.

We live in Staten Island and go to Manhattan occasionally. Unsurprisingly, the CT has the difficulty parking that you would expect with any "oversize" vehicle, but it seems nimble enough and noticeable enough to make its way through traffic and pedestrian crossings without any noticeable trouble. Interestingly, the Cybertruck is still a bit of a curiosity for some of the foreign tourists. We have not come up against any negative backlash so far (but have never left it parked outside overnight).
What interests me about the situation is solving the lack of home charging. Why wouldn't it be feasible to use a LFP power station or two with a dolly (such as available with Pecron brand) to add perhaps 10 or maybe even 15 kWH per day? (With the power station in the bed and the Tonneau cover left slightly ajar with the mobile charger snaked through to the charging port.) Good for at least 25 miles each time, knowing that the CT gets at least 2.5 miles per kWH in city driving. And knowing that Manhattan is really pretty compact.
((While humping the power station in and out of your apartment every charge/discharge cycle is clearly non-trivial, it has to be less use of your time than public charging in Manhattan is. (Maybe a 4-hour charging time, but you would "set it and forget it".) (?)))

Appreciate both of your responses. So regarding the public charging, you should look up Gravity Charging Station on 42nd St. it’s way ahead of its time with up to 500kw charging. It would probably take 45/1hr to charge up the CT and I can do it as needed while I’m in area/close by. It definitely does feel like a babysitting job but it could be the price to pay for such an amazing trunk. FSD in NYC is truly a life changing experience, it feels like you have a chauffeur driving you around the greatest city. The other car I’m debating is the Lexus GX550 which also gets an abysmal 15m/g in the city. This is the debate in my head. And for reference I’m on 19th and 2nd avenue so shooting over to 42nd street on a quiet Sunday morning for a charge up once a week doesn’t sound like the worst thing, especially when car drives itself
