Do I have a secret VIN number?

So I configured Dec 19 and have been waiting for VIN assignment, I get super excited when messages lights up, but it’s just to re-apply finance as it had been 30 days… plus it ask me if I wa t Tesla insurance. I say yes just to avoid delays… today I’m looking at a number that seems like a VIN but think it’s not… because the message says when VIN is assigned the next step will happen etc… so no $$ for insurance yet. BUT I look up the number 7G2CEH9RA00xxxxx and it appears to be a VIN except for the 9

Is this a secret way to find a VIN or am I just not paying attention to other threads?

Where is the possible VIN located in the app?

It’s in the application for Insurance… I chose Tesla insurance, gave my Driver ID etc… it then says something like… will charge me when VIn is assigned…. But then I saw the number… inside the insurance part of the docs process

That’s interesting. I have a VIN and where you have the 9, I have a 6. There was a thread way back on how to decode the VIN but off hand I’m not sure what specific digit references. You need the VIN in order to get insurance so you may have found a secret way of finding out before.

You’re missing two letters before the 9. The fuel type and motor configuration (single, dual, or tri). Which do you have ordered, AWD or Beast?

Ya… the 9 stands out as the only odd number per those decoders…. Maybe is a “pre assembly” VIN designator? Tge rest of it all seems legit

In the app you hit the continue and it takes you to a series of mini apps to clear that work toward a delivery date schedule etc…

No worries. It looks like a legit VIN. When you actually receive the email that it is assigned, comparing the two should confirm if you found the secret location. Keep us posted and good luck

Could be a dummy Cybertruck VIN to be used to calculate insurance cost. If you go to insurance agency to ask for quote on cybertruck insurance without VIN, they will use a dummy VIN for such.
