I am contemplating buying the Tesstudio console 110V charger hub but I have the commonly available fingerprint safe already installed in the console and that complicates the cable management for the charger hub since the hub needs to plug into the 110V outlet that is now enclosed within the safe. I have seen a couple of videos on YouTube where the presenters have either messily cut through the top of the safe or, alternatively, jammed the cable through the existing USB cable hole but they then report that the safe door doesn't open as smoothly.

Has anyone successfully (and cleanly!) drilled through the top of the safe to create a wider hole to run the power cable from the console power bank and, if so, did it require a special bit/equipment?

If you search the forum you will find detailed information including photos for a hidden flap that allows cabling to be run into/out of the center console. I will search for it and repost if I find it.

Yea. What he said. Which is generally what I have to say when posting after @CT_AZ_4x4
What can I say?The dude knows his shit.

Another approach which is probably spendier than you’d like is this.

This is the safe I have in mine that’s also fingerprint ID and I absolutely love it. It often goes on sale and then there are all the usual chinesium drop ship antics to try get it cheaper too.
I personally really like that deep space under the tray. I have a four way divider in there and keep all kinds of stuff in there. Wouldn’t dream of a safe there instead.

Happened to grab part of it in a photo just today when discussing my extraction tool mount.

Very cool under seat safe, hemiarch. And thanks for the link, CT_AZ_4x4. Very handy to know about that for future add-ons.

As I understand it, though, the charger hub has a power supply cord that runs out the back of the unit and is designed to drop down into the console cavity and then plug into the 110V plug on the interior of the front wall of the console. It sits under the front of the console lid and back behind the cup holders enough that that power cable is already within the interior of the console. My problem is that the already installed console safe forms a barrier between the top and bottom halves of the interior of the console and the 110V receptacle is in the bottom half. (Access to the receptacle is blocked but he safe.) There is a small hole that allows USB-sized cables to run through the top of the safe, but the charger hub's power cable (110V) is too big to comfortably fit through the existing hole. That's why I'm wondering whether anyone else has had this or similar experience and if anyone has successfully drilled through the safe to make a bigger hole for the cable.

I am likely over thinking this and should simply try to drill the thing, but if that will just damage the finish on the safe I'd rather not experiment.

So yes. How you’re describing the cable is accurate. I have that little power strip and really like it precisely because it relocates the ac plug to the exterior of the center console.

But I still love that deep space where you have your safe way too much to obstruct it with that.
I think I saw this guy on YouTube do the mod you’re talking about a while back. The Colorado dude with the beard.
Let me see if I can find it

Cool! Looks great. (And I love the 5-speed shifter!)

Haha. Little fidget toy I sometimes keep in there for FSD time. I need to be doing something with my hands sometimes.

That's the safe and the video shows the small hole that allows a USB cable to go through. I am wondering whether that hole can easily be drilled to make it big enough for a 110V power cable to go through it.

Here it is

But that video is roughly in the ballpark

Yes. Could put a grommet in.
