Just got my Cybertruck two days ago.

They sent me an email saying that I get full self driving capabilities free for one month. However, I can’t seem to engage full self driving in the menu of the truck. It seems to be grayed out. Any suggestions?

Also I see that you can pay for FSD month-to-month at roughly $100 a month. Which would you all do,? Pay for it monthly at $100 a month or pay the $6000 and have it indefinitely?

Thanks

I think the most recent deliveries are probably going to have to wait until the 2024.44.x builds include FSD... a couple more weeks I'd guess. If I hadn't gone with FS I'd be renting not buying FSD. If you don't keep the truck at least 5 years, you wouldn't break even... just make sure when you pay the $100 your current FW version is BELOW the latest FSD build, otherwise you'll be waiting with nothing to show for it. Learned this the hard way in my M3 when it was $200/mo.. half the month was wasted.

I agree with your point about the subscription vs. outright purchase. My wife, who didn’t even like FSD when we got the free trial a few months ago (pre version 12.5), fell in love and uses it every day during the most recent free trial, post version 12.5 with multiple updates.

We recently ordered her a MX. The cost to purchase FSD further ordering process was $8000. Doing the math, at $99 a month it would take almost 7 years to recoup the cost of FSD. I really doubt we’ll have it that long. More than likely it’ll be sold or traded in for a newer model to be honest. So we’ve decided to do the monthly subscription.

One thing for OP to also consider is if you purchase FSD and trade the car in, you get no additional value for having it. It’ll be treated as having basic Autopilot.
