FSD goes with the purchaser.....not the vehicle so the resale concept isn't accurate.
really....is this any different from the car sales.....I thought that when you sell you car, if 3rd party, the buyer can keep the FSD.....if it goes through Tesla, Tesla has the right to cancel it......did I miss something?

I am at 46,160.....I have tri-motor with FSD.....I agree that most people who ordered it will use it very little as the truck will be mostly off road....I may be mistaken, though.....I am scheduled for around apr 22, but I'll bet it will be closer to jun/jul timeframe
I'm in agreement with your timeline guess vs the "scheduled" guess, but why do you think this truck will be used mostly off road? I would speculate that many of us will use it off road, but the time spent off road will likely not come close to anything resembling mostly off road.

you're right.....I think of a truck as something for off-road because of what I read.......I know I will be mostly on-road with occasional camping trips....this truck will be my daily driver.....thanks for pointing out my error

My daily driver too. Commute vehicle, cross country road tripper, Sunday driver, plus hunting and camping vehicle.

To the OP subject...I think there will be a handful of people out there willing to pay a premium to own early, but having the truck in hand and finding someone willing to pay said premium I think is going to be far and few between. Certainly the exception; not the rule.

this is an important detail - source?
I am the 2nd owner of a LR RWD Model 3 that had EAP that the previous owner purchased. In fact, it's my 2nd Tesla that has had EAP from the previous owner. Before I bought my cars, I researched for months each time. I called Tesla and spoke to probably everyone on their support team at this point haha! I called with the VIN of every car (over 50 total) that I was looking at and asked a variety of questions, one of which is does AP, EAP, or FSD stay with the owner or move with the car (the cars had various options purchased). The answer every time was that ALL SOFTWARE UPGRADES including AP, EAP, FSD, unlocked range, performance mode, etc stay with the car and NOT the owner.

Sure enough, both of my Tesla's still had EAP on them after ownership was transferred without a hitch. So my source? Tesla + experience. ?

I bought both of my Tesla's through 3rd party sellers (craigslist). There's only one way to take ownership of the car no matter how you buy it (private party or dealership, etc) and that's through Tesla. I guess technically you could take ownership without notifying Tesla, but you would never be able to use the Tesla app and have to rely on using the key cards and never be able to supercharge since the card on file is the old owner's and they would remove it at some point.

Transferring ownership through Tesla is very easy and much faster than it was a year ago! My M3 last year took 5 days to transfer to me, and my newer M3 that I bought a few months back only took 2 hours! You just provide them with a notarized bill of sale, VIN, owner's name and email, your name and email, and a few other details (it's all listed on their site) and voila! It's transferred to your account as the owner.

Long story short, people need to know that software upgrades stay with the car and Tesla happily supports this. There's too much misinformation out there (from non-owners usually) who haven't gone through the process or researched it to such a degree as others. ?

I think the resale price in the first month depends on three factors-
1) Has FSD been fully released by then
2) Is the Tesla Network online and accepting fully autonomous rides
3) If both happen before CT is delivered

If #3 happens before CT release, the FSD/Tesla Network combo will probably increase the value of each Tesla already on the road. Once people see a value add like that, they'll see the steel triangle truck in a whole new light...
