Someone on Reddit posted that they were recently told by a Tesla rep that if you resell a cyberbeast with luxe package after February 14 (when you can no longer purchase FSD outright), nothing will transfer to the next owner.

I knew FUSC wouldn’t transfer but the poster said that the rep emphasized that FSD also will not transfer.

My question is if I buy a used CB that has fully purchased lifetime FSD after February 14, will the FSD transfer to me?

The answer is probably, maybe.

In the past if you purchased from a private seller or a dealership that purchased from a private seller, it would transfer. If the vehicle ever went through Tesla (most do) they strip the FSD off when selling to the dealer. Often times the dealer didn't know and there was a lot of angry used car buyers.

Now Tesla is telling people (myself included) that the LUXE package (FSD and FUSC) will not transfer. I don't know if this is just after Feb 14 or all Luxe package sales. The Foundation series FSD or purchased FSD outside of the Luxe package SHOULD transfer, but it's all up in the air right now.

FSD allegedly stays with the car for life unless transferred to another car (which ends 3/31).

I’m half convinced Tesla removes it if you trade it in to them, as you never see used inventory on their website with FSD, but they offer FSD transfers so frequently that maybe everyone is just transferring it. We’ll see starting in April if FSD cars start showing up.

Private dealers don’t have a way of removing FSD, so I’d check for used Beasts there if Tesla’s inventory doesn’t list it.

Things have changed with this Luxe package. That won't be the case moving forward after the 14th. The Tesla rep was unclear about the Luxe package prior to that. He just said, "Who knows with this company".

The luxe package terms and conditions pdf file under “transferability” said explicitly that fsd will transfer to the subsequent buyer. It’s just frustrating Tesla releases the terms and conditions online but you get conflicting answers when you call in… I know I know first world problems…

Probably or maybe is not an answer! Just a heads up

That changes tomorrow. This is something all Tesla offices are reporting. It apparently was sent 2 weeks ago.

Based on recent Tesla policies, for a "Launch" edition or the "Luxe" package, with all the options included, the FSD in this case cannot be transferred.

Otherwise if you bought FSD, it can only be transferred once.

If you sell the new vehicle to a third party, FSD will stay with the vehicle and be available to the new vehicle owner.

Its such a scummy business practice to remove a feature paid for in full and attached to a VIN. People were all up in arms when BMW tried to sell heated seats as a subscription. In my opinion this is worse because the cost is so much higher. Unlike heated seats the FSD hardware is still used for other features on non-FSD enabled cars.

The right thing to do would be to attach to a VIN for the life of a vehicle. Or attach the FSD license to a driver. I would like a subscription to enable FSD on any Tesla I drive. Mine, my sisters, a friends, a rental, etc...

IMO, FSD should belong to the car unless transfer to a new car when trade in because it is not a subscription.

If sold through Tesla they rip out the FSD quite often.
If sold private party and FSD was purchased (not included) it stays.

Posted of this in another thread.
I ordered a Model S Plaid on 2/8/26
My Sales Advisor told me he has official word from Tesla that the FSD in Luxe package will change to a free subscription 2/14/26 and that it will terminate and not be transferable to the next buyer. (Like Premium Connectivity)
He wasn’t sure what time of day on 2/14 and didn’t mention any change in price…
This motivated me to order before 2/14

I was supplied with The Luxe package agreement in my Tesla app along with the other purchase agreement documents.
And this is the text that I copied and pasted from the actual agreement.

Here is the very specific clause on transferability. (Very Clear)

Transferability. The Package, including its individual features and services, cannot be transferred to another vehicle. If you sell or otherwise transfer the ownership of your Model S or Model X, the Full Self- Driving (Supervised) and the remainder of the Recommended Maintenance, Wheel and Tire Protection Plan, and Windshield Protection Plan will transfer automatically to the buyer.

The Free Supercharging and Premium Connectivity will not transfer with the vehicle and will terminate once the ownership of the Model S or Model X is transferred.
