FSD engaged, traveling south at full speed on a highway. I was listening to a story being told on the radio. My hands were not on the steering wheel. FSD was doing it's thing. There were police responding to an incident unfolding on the other side of the road far up ahead. My eyes were focused on that for just a few seconds as I was just trying to figure out what exactly I was observing as it came into focus.

Suddenly, out of my peripheral vision I see the steering wheel flip hard to the left. The whole truck jumps left, sending us on a course to be completely out of lane within a moment. I grabbed for the steering wheel with intent of aborting this unexpected maneuver as soon as possible! Just as I got a hold of the wheel, I now see a pickup truck pulling a large trailer that is rapidly merging into my right side without a turn signal or a care in the world. At this moment I realized that FSD was performing an evasive maneuver. I allowed it to proceed while I manned the horn and finger. I can only assume FSD will do one or both of these in a future update, but for now, I was happy with the teamwork and the day was saved!

Makes you wonder if the driver was just being an asshole because you drive a CT...

Only if he's exceedingly dumb. Because it's really easy to perform a PITT maneuver on a trailer like that with a large rear overhang (accidently or on purpose). It probably wouldn't even damage the Cybertruck, although you might need a new plastic fender.

Maybe he figured it was on FSD and he knows how well it avoids accidents?

With no additional context, it seems flipping someone off in this situation is more of an escalation than anything. Do you know if the guy was having a coughing fit at the moment he veered over? Did you see him distracted by a phone or anything?

Sometimes we are too quick to lose our temper. FSD actually saved both of you guys from a collision.

In the video, look at where the truck 's driver side tires were.

The truck's tires were completely in the other lane (other side of line ).

The truck looks like is a dually type (DRW, dual rear wheel truck is a type of pickup truck with four rear wheels rather than two) so truck is larger than F-150/F-250 and the back is not a standard bed. The trucks front wheel also looks like type on larger pickups ( F-350/F-450 and up or 3500/4500 and up ). Might be Ford F-350 or F-450 Super Duty CrewCab with utility box bed and crane (instead of standard bed). If we had more pictures/video from the Cybertruck's side and rear cameras we might be able to identify the exact year & model of the truck.

Like most trucks that truck's body and mirrors extend out even further than the tires

The video shows the trailer wheels completely in the other lane too. (not just on the line).

The truck and trailer were much more than "barely over the line"!

Moments like this are why I want the new "HEADS UP" horn sound vs the conventional "'scuse me" horn my beast still has.

Joking aside, it would actually be really useful if FSD used the horn in defensive situations like this. My hitting the horn is what caused the other driver to back off.

In my experience, sometimes the "Cuff" does not match the "Collar". ?‍♂
