I’ve never wrapped a car or tinted windows before. I’m about to do so on the Cybertruck.

I am wondering if there are certain preferred materials (ie, PPF and ceramic), certain manufacturers of those materials that should be used.

With respect to tinting of all windows - are there similar concepts to consider. Can tinting really break windshields as I’ve seen on this board. If so are there certain materials and precautions to undertake to reduce or eliminate that risk.

What pitfalls should I be sensitive to in this process to ensure I have the right organization doing the install.

Finally as it pertains to satin matte and stealth black ppf coverings - how would one describe the differences in these three options to someone like me trying to get the right look

Thanks to all knowledgeable in this area - welcome the insights.

You can definitely DIY CT, it’s easiest vehicle to wrap on the planet. If you choose PPF then you need to stick to the ones which are available for DIY’r, some reputed brands dont sell to consumers directly. PPF will super easy to install, if you plan to roll edges (which you shud IMO) then the challenge increases, you will need to use adhesion promoter and keep curling with heat gun, until you win. If you dont roll edges then you are left sharp edges.

If you choose vinyl , which is better to roll on edges but little difficult on panels due to its tacky nature (many brands like 3M, Avery are very less tacky). I chose a super glossy vinyl and needed that specific brand ONLY, because it was ultra gloss and had no orange peel.
if you want matte finish then definitely it super easy since you are out off glossy competition

I did my CT on my own and did lot videos, first check it and then DM me.

3 vinyl ,
Super GLoss - Gloss wall paint
Satin - Like Egg Shell wall paint
Stealth - Flat wall paint

Tint - My tinting guy told he will not tint windshield since he fears it might crack due to heat

If you are doing glossy black I would highly recommend doing it in the PPF. It looks better, lasts longer, you will significantly reduce stretch marks making the outcome better and scratch resistant. You have 2 options of having precut kits or a roll. DM me and I can give you a price breakdown on each

Thank you for these insights. I am definitely not a DIY prospect. But helpful to hear all of this.

Yes shying away from glossy black - little too much reflection for me. I agree though on PPF - that decision made vs vinyl. Just seeing people mention STEK brand of PPF. Are some brands of PPF more reliable and why?
Thank for help here

Stek is good brand for ppf, it hold onto the edges and end points nicely, other lower brands start peeling of with little nicks here and there.

I have Clear Stek Dyno on my Model Y and 1.5 years still doing great.
