I had a software update a couple days ago. You probably did too. Today I noticed, since the last software update, that my truck needed the windshield wipers on due to rain in the area. This is the first time I’ve used the wipers since my update. The wipers kept making a very loud click clack sound as if they were an old grandfather clock. I don’t recall that noise in the past so I don’t know if it’s related to the update, but it’s very annoying. Anybody know how to turn it off other than turning the wipers off? Perhaps there’s a setting for that…I don’t know.

I've noticed for decades now that many minor wiper issues are caused by residue on the glass or wiper blade. It could be the washer fluid you are using, car wash products, pollen, tree sap, etc. A clean windshield and wiper blade is a happy windshield and wiper experience.

I always wash the blade of the wiper with soap and water when I wash my truck. It's also ok to put some isopropyl alcohol on a clean rag and rub down the blade.

RainX or other glass treatment should quiet down the wiping

Yesterday I decided to deep-clean the windshield by soaking in IronX, then using a clay bar and Sprayway. Today when I fired up the wiper it was much smoother and quieter!

Next I'm gonna hit it gently with glass polish on a DA foam pad, and seal it with ceramic.

P.S. Use gloves when scrubbing with IronX, I washed my hands 10 times and they still smell lol

Nice! Glad you got it working well.

I would recommend avoiding any coatings on the windscreen. Sure, it's nice when the coating is all new and fresh, then the sun starts to break it down, the wiper starts to abrade it, the troubles begin and you will be stripping it off again.
