I got tired of looking at all the caliper covers, and how expensive they are, and took the plunge and started painting them myself. I say started, because only got one done today, but looks way better than any cover Iโ€™ve seen so far, and no risk of it falling off and causing damage while driving.

The sticker is a Tsport caliper sticker.

Steps:
1. Clean the calipers, I just used store brand brake cleaner. Worked well. Used a lot
2. Sand the calipers with 220, I didnโ€™t do the rear ones, it wouldnโ€™t have helped the overall look at all.
3. Tape off, this is the worst longest part of the whole thing. It took about 15-20 minutes per wheel.
4. Primered the brake caliper with high temp caliper primer. 2 light coats 10 minutes apart, then wait one hour.
5. Sanded with 440p. And cleaned, water and alcohol
5. Painted with high temp caliper paint. 2 light coats, and one medium wet coat, 10 minutes apart, let dry 1 hour
6. Put the stickers on.
7. 3 coats of high temp clear coat, same as the paint.

So happy you posted this!

looks awesome. Compared to what t sportline offers (love those guys and their products but some of their custom services are just so crazy expensive and not everyone has that kind of money) this is much cheaper as a DIY and if you tape it off meticulously itโ€™s actually not that hard to do.

iโ€™m thinking of a big brake kit upgrade though so that might make it ludicrously easy because i could paint the calipers while they are off the truck before installation.

cheers

Caliper Cleaner, a lot of it. Then sanded all the flat surfaces with 180g, then caliper cleaner again. Then sanded with 600g after the primer.

These are the biggest calipers I think Iโ€™ve ever seen on a vehicle, at least the fronts. And I used to work at a TA fixing semi. (Doesnโ€™t mean I think they are the biggest). But I do think the bolts holding them on are the biggest.

I would be super interested in a brake project. Already have some ideas on paper for it? I have some ideas of myself.

Early stages. But there are several companies with big breake kits now so i may get one of those and then just do a simply diy caliper paint job and order a custom decal over it before installation to keep things simple.

??

Good stuff you should include what you used and how it worked as well. I did mine. I used
G2 High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint System Set RED G2160 - High Gloss
https://a.co/d/8WPPQOR

Worked great anyone can do it just take your time and prep itโ€™s all in the prep, the ct has larger then normal
Face surface so it worked best to do some sanding on that face for the paint to take nicely I split the mix in half so I could do the front wheels then put them back on and do the rear after plenty of paint I did like 5 coats Way cheaper to do your self! I think with the stickers this me me total about $120 !Donโ€™t be intimidate you can do this ?

Iโ€™ll update with all the steps and more pictures once I finish all the brakes. But yes, prep takes the longest by a long shot. I now need better wheels to see the brakes better.
