I have plans to paint the calipers using:
https://www.amazon.com/G2-Temperatu...3ec15d02c&ref_=pd_hp_d_atf_ci_mcx_mr_hp_atf_m
Or
https://www.amazon.com/OMAC-Brake-C...3ec15d02c&ref_=pd_hp_d_atf_ci_mcx_mr_hp_atf_m

depending on best color match. Pics to follow

The question, has anyone jacked and used jack stands with their 6500lb truck? Anything i need to play particular attention to?
I have done work on my Tacoma but that was significantly lighter. Do I need 4 ton jack stands? Do front then rear vs all 4 at same time? Any other advice to keep me or more importantly the Truck safe?

Best,

I need to be able to change a tire on my CT when traveling off road. I bought a small 4-ton bottle jack to carry in the sub-vault along with a homemade jack stand. The drawback with this particular bottle jack is the limited lift distance. It's not enough to get the tire off the ground using Tesla's user manual instructions for jacking the truck. I found that if I elevate the suspension all the way to Extract Level, set to Jack Mode, and place the bottle jack on a block of wood beneath a lift point, I can raise the truck another inch or so to get the tire off the ground. The CT's A/T wheels weigh 87 lbs, so putting a wheel back on was a chore for me. Anyway, if it ever comes to it in the wild, I know I can do it.

This is impressive but i think you may be much braver than me :)

I found a DIY garage that has some lifts and bays to rent - I think i will rent one out for an hour or two to be safe

I did mine

Will be doing same again in upcoming weeks ..

If my math is right ... you are technically lifting on 2jack stands ... trucks is ~6000 lbs .. so 2 Ton on each side shud be able to handle it ... 1 Ton = 2200 Lbs ... so 2 ton means 4400 lbs ... you are putting half truck weight on one jack stand ... not only half .. I will say 1/4th if you plan to do front and rear separately ... which is what I plan to do ...

Thanks! still between spray and brush. the best advise i am getting is if calipers are removed, then spray. If they stay on then brush.

Dont complicate by removing calipers ... just spray , dont brush it, it leave uneven finish, spray gives powder coat type even finish ... yes it does leave some surface inside unpainted which is 100% not visible unless you remove the wheels ... you main idea is to paint the visible surface ... but tape & protect your other non paintable surfaces ....

I've been known to take calculated risks. Makes me feel alive.

If planning to change a tire in the field you have to take into account conditions are not always ideal, the ground is not always level, and the truck is probably loaded beyond when you drove it off the lot.

And who unloads all their cargo (gear) before jacking?

None of that really matters if you just want to plug the tire so it will hold air again.
