for long distance drives and if my bed is full I have a hitch rack. but recently ive been riding partially to work. wanted to find a way get my bike to the parking lot without laying it down in the bed, so I got this:

and this (which is a bit quirky): https://a.co/d/7MC1u9w

which when attached to l track mounts (I prefer this style - much easier to adjust) https://a.co/d/2jiGsQ2

results in this setup:

the bike is quite solidly attached. no need for a tailgate mat. tailgate closes.

the bike rack is not attached to the tmat at all….but it could be but I think that would be overkill.

Looks great! If you’re ever in a rush and looking for something quick and simple, you can try this. Works with 3 out of 4 road bikes we have so maybe it wil work for you.

yeah I know about the tailgate mat thing. I just never really liked that method of holding for some reason. also if I got a tailgate mat I would then be very tempted to get a tailgate jumpseat and then if you have one of those then my wife needs one and then youre 500 in the hole. lol.

my set up costs about 150 which in boy math means i have 350 towards a hitch tent haha!
