Electrek currently has an article about how much data is being collected by FSD and sent back to Tesla:
Tesla is collecting insane amount of data from its Full Self-Driving test fleet

In the past I’ve crossed the border by car from Washington state into British Columbia Canada. Once I was on the phone during the crossing and was summarily told to shut that down because no recording was allowed. Subsequently I’ve noticed that the border has a bunch of signage saying no recording allowed.

So... what happens with Tesla recordings? Or if I’ve got my own USB drive recording the Tesla feed? I’m guessing border patrol can’t tell if I have a recording going.

Does border control have some deal with Tesla not to record border crossings?

Excellent question.

What about the “record event” function? You can record the past 15 minutes by tapping the icon on the information panel. How would an agreement to not record border crossing be effected by a real accident or manually activated record function?

What they don't know about doesn't bother them. I have crossed the border dozens of times in a Telsa and no one has ever said a word. It seems to be audio recordings they are worried about. Were you allowed to record audio that would quickly be a source of embarrassment to the agency in terms of the incredible inconsistency from agent to agent and time to time.

According to a quick Google search, any officers that tell you that recording their activities isn't allowed, are in fact, not telling the truth.

In both the US and Canada, you have the right to record officers going about their business.

Well now, I wonder (OK I don't really) wonder if they are legally allowed to lie too. I know police interrogators are perfectly justified in lying to the "perp". So probably border agents are too.

Our world has so many weird situations. The issue with the lying by officers for me is that it selectively weeds out suspects based on intelligence and cunning. If one is smart enough to know that they lie, then don't answer questions and just ask for your lawyer. If one is gullible then it really doesn't matter how guilty they actually are, the police are able to manipulate a confession. Just seems to be a situation where we are choosing to incentivize based on the wrong criteria.

But none of that has anything to do with the CT so I'll get off my soapbox.

Carry on...
