Hi all,
I have been researching how to retrofit the smuggler locker into the base Cybertruck. A YouTube channel, CT59 with his truck and Tesla attempted to but did not work as Teala stated during install there was some missing bracket they did not know what it was or part number. They had ordered all of the parts associated with the locker from the Tesla parts store.
I think I might have figured it out but it would require someone to check the void space either by unbolting and raising the bed floor and look down into the void or crawl under the ear and look up.
Basically there is an aluminum bar that spans the width of the void space and that is what supports the tub weight and bolted onto. This bar is NOT part of the smuggler locker parts list but rather a piece that connects to the frame and bumper area and hence did not come up in the required parts list. So if someone looks into the void space and does not see this bar, then that may be the missing bracket Tesla talked about. I do have the part number of that bar and can post it when I am not using my phone. If it is there then it is something else….
I hope this research will get the locker into the base truck which mine is 2-3 months from delivery.
