Can folks who get this notification disclose your truck types and VIN range?

(I just realized OP and cali_doc have beasts)

Also note you can check your VIN for recalls, here: Tesla Recall Search

I got an email about it. It didn’t say which car it was for. It just said we will contact when we have parts.

Tesla App Message Regarding "High Voltage Battery Seal System" Likely Refers to Service Bulletin for Model S and Model X
Some Tesla owners have recently reported receiving messages in their Tesla app or via email concerning a "High voltage battery seal system." Current information suggests this likely pertains to Tesla Service Bulletin SB-25-16-002, which involves replacing "flood port plungers" in the High Voltage (HV) battery system for certain Model S and Model X vehicles.
Details of Service Bulletin SB-25-16-002:
  • Affected Vehicles: The bulletin applies to certain Model S and Model X vehicles manufactured between approximately January 2021 and September 22, 2022. Owners can verify applicability to their specific vehicle through the Tesla app or their Tesla account.
  • Issue: The service bulletin addresses a non-safety-related condition. It involves replacing the existing HV battery flood port plungers, which are designed for internal water leak egress, with new plungers that are more robust against external water ingress, particularly if the vehicle is submerged.
  • Correction: Tesla Service will replace all five flood port plungers with the updated parts. According to the bulletin, if it is applicable to the vehicle, the correction will be performed without requiring a prior inspection.
  • Cost: The replacement is covered under Tesla's HV Battery Limited Warranty. If the warranty has expired, Tesla may cover it under a "Goodwill" policy.
  • Nature of Action: This is classified as a "Campaign Bulletin," indicating a proactive service action by Tesla rather than an official safety recall mandated by agencies like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Distinction from Other Battery-Related Issues:
It's important to differentiate this service bulletin from other recently reported Tesla battery issues:
  • Cybertruck "Quiet" Battery Replacements: There have been reports in late 2024 and early 2025 of Tesla proactively replacing entire high-voltage battery packs in some Cybertrucks (reportedly those manufactured between February and July 2024). This is attributed to concerns about "cell side dents" that could potentially cause short circuits. This action has not been labeled as an official recall by Tesla, and communication to owners has reportedly been inconsistent, sometimes occurring when vehicles are brought in for unrelated service.
  • Official Recalls: Tesla has issued various official recalls for different models and issues, some of which have involved components of the high-voltage battery system. For example, NHTSA recall 23V-434 concerned a non-functioning pyrotechnic battery disconnect in some 2023 Model Y and Model 3 vehicles. However, current official recall listings do not specifically describe a "high voltage battery seal system" recall that directly matches the app message and the details of SB-25-16-002.
What Tesla Owners Should Do:
Owners who have received this specific message in their Tesla app should:
  1. Check Vehicle Applicability: The Tesla app or the owner's Tesla account should provide information on whether this service bulletin (SB-25-16-002) or any other service action applies to their specific vehicle.
  2. Follow Tesla's Guidance: If the service is applicable, Tesla will provide instructions on how to proceed, which typically involves scheduling a service appointment.
  3. Contact Tesla Support: For any clarifications or further questions, owners should contact Tesla customer support.
While the app message may use the term "recall," the underlying action for the "High voltage battery seal system" for affected Model S and Model X vehicles appears to be this non-safety-related service campaign to enhance the robustness of the battery housing against water ingress. Owners of other models, like the Cybertruck, who receive similar messages should verify the specific issue and recommended action for their vehicle with Tesla.

The Tesla Service Bulletin SB-25-16-002, which addresses the replacement of "flood port plungers" in the High Voltage (HV) battery system for certain Model S and Model X vehicles, appears to have been issued on May 5, 2025.
This date is indicated within the service bulletin document itself.

Yes! Got the message but humorously no indication of which Tesla. How could anyone be lucky enough to have two?

It's interesting that so many of us have Plaid X's and Cybertrucks. When I searched both vehicles the X showed no recalls and the Cybertruck only shows the cant rail recall, which isn't available yet, and I'm probably not going to do anyway as I'm happy with their current fit. Not sure if that's a mistake or not! I know I'm passing on the light bar because I don't want to risk everything not getting sealed back correctly. The cant rails look great and I just can't see ripping them off to put them right back.
