I have already sent that to one new Tesla owner so I don’t have to explain. Easy. I also sent the link to the 500GB Samsung drive I use but they probably won’t need it. People are still buying Teslas but they are concerned about vandalism - unnecessarily in my opinion.

FYI, I connected a larger thumb drive. I was having unusually long delays with my voice command recognition. Sometimes as long as 30 minutes with no voice commands being recognized. Tesla traced it to my larger installed thumb drive.
I found it hard to believe the thumb drive was the culprit. The problem stopped when they switched the Tesla drive back in. (So, it was either the thumb drive or something else they did during the troubleshooting process.)
This was on my ”22 X, so your model may react differentl.?

It's because it's a thumb drive. If you use a thumb drive it needs to be class 10 or above (high speed). Thats why if you go big you go SSD. You need fast read and write times.

Agreed. The vandalism online makes it out to be much worse than reality…at least in most parts of the country.

First this is an EXCELLANT VIDEO!!!

Second, the problem you had could have been the speed of the thumb drive, or various other things. Thumb drives do go flaky and become unreliable, so it's important to test and verify a drive's operation, before leaving it in service.

I am using this 2TB drive ...

If the number cited of 10 hours for the Tesla supplied 128gb drive is accurate, this one does a week. I think that even in the case of events discovered later, such as vandalism while the truck was parked for several days unattended, a week's data storage is sufficient.

It's possible for law enforcement to want to take your flash drive, not just some files from it, if you are involved in an accident. This is not predicable, so might be a good idea to leave the old 128gb in the glove box as a spare.
