I'm a new tesla owner, who picked up a cybertruck a month ago.
Biggest issue with my cybertruck is a misaligned tail gate. Literally the worst problem on the car, which they say would be an easy fix so i took the delivery. Sure there are other panel gap concerns, which I've posted here before, but those do not bother me as much as a misaligned tail gate. Everyone can see the rear light bar being crooked. So I waited a month for the first appointment to get it repaired.
Invoice tells me it's repaired, and here's what it looks like. Exactly like before.
Let alone, now there is a dent on my fender which they say they will replace on my next appointment, which is another month away.
Now I have to worry about them screwing up a fender causing more panel gaps or misalignments.
It's gonna be an yr of monthly SC visits until things are fixed. Such BS.

I included a pic of the front frunk trim, they added a tiny sharp dent into the edge of that panel too.
And in case for people that's wondering, I had them check the A/C because it was being super loud, which they said it's normal after looking at it. Maybe a 20deg cold morning issue. So that may be the reason for these dents.

Yeah, the invoice says they replaced the top plastic trim piece to fix the problem. So I'm guessing they think by pressing the plastic trim tighter, it'll look more flush? Just stupid, the literal whole tailgate is misaligned, I don't get the logic.

What’s sad is I’ve seen more than one rear lightbar worse than that. They always seem to have this problem on new models, but you’d think they could figure it out eventually.

Mine has been back 4 times with this on the list and it has not changed. Same with the driver door. I tied to fix the driver door, not so easy as the door is thick and heavy and the alignment is minuscule. My tailgate is off at least as much as yours.

IF you find the "magic sauce" let me know!

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, and I agree, it’s super maddening how Tesla allows their service techs to get away with crap like this.

Got mine 3 months ago andjust had 2 service visits (with a 3rd scheduled) because they can’t fix the little things correctly the first time (or they don’t order the parts until I show up for the service appointment, like what in the actual f).

I asked them to do some minor alignments of some small panels that are just a tad misaligned. They put on the service invoice that it was all fixed but I can tell it wasn’t touched at all. Think they flat out lie so it looks like they did the work and they hope the owner won’t bother to report it again.

So you guys telling me the tail gate can't be fixed? That's seriously pretty upsetting. I don't even drive the truck at all now, since they dented the left front fender. I feel like having them rip off the entire front side panel to replace it is just gonna lead to more problems. Let alone i found even more dents on my frunk that was caused by the service center visit.

It’s fixable. Just might need a second attempt (or a different service center, if there’s another near you).

Worst case: find a Tesla authorized body shop and ask them for a quote. Not suggesting this since the tail gate should’ve been manufactured correctly.

So tesla messaged me today and says it's not their fault. Just sent them a long winded message saying how it's not me, how I have a video before service. Also let them know I refuse to drive the truck till all things are fixed and since I haven't been driving it, it's highly unlikely I dented it. 112 miles only btw, I've only drove it to and from the service center. I included the photo of the dent for people that's wondering.

*quick edit* it's actually not easy to spot this dent, my neighbor pointed it out to me. You have to be at the right angle. so I doubt the tesla tech even noticed it. hence tesla saying they did not do it.

I tell you what, two mistakes you made in your car purchase. First, you listened to whatever bs the salesman pushed onto you. Salesman's job is to make sales, they will say whatever to please customers and take no responsibility after. You were gullible to trust in salesman's lies. Second, you were in full knowledge something was obviously defective in the car and yet you drove it off the lot. And sounds to me you obviously did not inspect for other defects. The moment the sale is finalized and the car is off the lot, the problem becomes yours, not the dealer. Never ever accept a lemon. Any defect is enough a very strong red flag to stay away from. You were unaware you were getting scammed by the dealer, this was the lemon nobody wants and they desperately tried to get rid of, and that target was you.

A misaligned tail gate or trunk is an easy fix for most car manufacturers, who would known tesla service centers are stupidly incompetent. Also, checking if ac noise is normal during a cold start is not something you check during delivery. Some tech denting the truck in multiple places to diagnose a noise has nothing to do with delivery.
