Which sucks. To my point, slash them on prices and see what happens. See how long it takes Kia to put charger stations with right sided NACS stations all over the ozarks and Northern California. Shocking prediction, longer than the useful life of the car.
Why let them off the hook so easily?

I agree. I always thought that OEMs that decided to "Go their own way" on charge port location, were doing it to give Tesla the middle finger. I certainly don't mind their customers paying through the nose for their wrong decisions now.

I'm perfectly fine with other EVs charging at Superchargers. It means Tesla will keep opening more locations. It was a no brainer for them. They get to dominate the DC fast charging business in North America. Once all cars have NACS who will go to any other charger? Unless you like adventure lol

I really do think it’s a nice car. Can I ask if you feel like the price of you charging that thing at a supercharger is in any fashion high enough to give you pause or be prohibitive? Because my whole point is that I think it should be.

I think Tesla should charge more for non-Tesla's to charge at a SC. In my opinion, they still aren't charging enough. Especially when you consider that at most of the charging stations they are taking up TWO spots. At these locations they should pay over double. Why does Telsa charge Tesla owners outrageous idle fees for taking up ONE spot too long or once they charge past 80%, but they're okay with a non-tesla taking up TWO spots? Doesn't make sense to me.

I think a lot depends on where you live too. It's rare to see a SC around me over half full. There are plenty of times where they're only 1/4 full.

BTW, I haven't charged the EV9 at any SC yet, but I will. It's pretty convenient since they are built with the NACS now. When I do, I have no problem paying more, that's how it should be. Even with Tesla charging the little more that they currently do, I believe they are still in line or slightly below "other" chargers (which I have never used yet, just look at prices and speeds). If I could find a 350 public charger I'd perfer to use that for the EV9, it'll charge much faster than I charge at a SC.

Back to the original post...I've been telling my wife for a few years now that on the interstate signs that show a Sheetz or Wawa (local stores to me), that they should have a Tesla logo in the bottom of their box to indicate a SC station located there.

Although I do agree with someone who mentioned it earlier, Tesla owners already know they're there. I think I'd just like to see the "T"

Correct, it's on the wrong side . Maybe when Musk allowed everyone to use SC and the NACS, the only stipulation should've been to install the charging ports on the drivers side rear like Teslas. Otherwise "No Telsa SC for you!"

I think we're getting overly excited about what Tesla is doing and hoping to see more signage. Sure it would be nice to show the world how far along Tesla has built out their Supercharger infostructure but this is not being done by tesla. Sure the State department of transportation is in charge of highway signs but until there is an update to the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and Tesla comes off some money, this will just be a one off.

In all honesty I felt the same way in 2019 when a whole bunch of Johnny come lately Tesla drivers in model 3’s started fumbling around at superchargers like teenagers under a prom dress.
I still don’t understand why Tesla would give away the competitive edge of the supercharger network so easily and cheaply.
They should be STRANGLING rivian and Cadillac and everyone else with outrageous supercharging fees. Not 20 bucks a month to charge at the same price as us. I get how Elon is supposed to be some kind of genius but this just seems like dumb business maneuvering to me.
It’s getting cheap profits at his former customers expense but for nothing! No market share gain, no high dollar remuneration, nothing.

If Tesla only charged Teslas, they would only reach Tesla fans. . Allowing everyone to charge at Superchargers, Tesla is normalizing the owning of EVs. It's just a matter of time before those people realize Tesla is the best EV manufacture out there. These signs are effectively free advertising. Every time an ICE driver sees the gas station he needs is on the same exit as a charger, he's going to be thinking about paying for gas. He may not switch right now but at least the conversation has started.

I dont get why there was such a big deal over standardizing charging port type, and over location as well. Not just EVs all vehicles should have the tank fill on the same side. Go to a busy gas station and its such a cluster fu(k.

There are some new non-Tesla 350W chargers through Kansas, the price is the same, it’s way faster charging, and they have covered stalls, very nice. Also trash cans and window squeegees.

Yes. All three of them are fantastic. I’m sure. Super clean squeegees and Japanese bidets in the bathroom. Whatever.
My point was not at all that they can’t compete in terms of amenities or speed but that even if these companies had endless money to throw at building a network (which they don’t), it would take them a decade to catch up with Tesla. It’s absolutely foolish for Tesla to let off the accelerator in this situation rather than capitalize on the lead and they are doing just that.

I want to pull my trailer with Cybertruck to a remote area and feel comfortable about getting home. NONE of the 3rd party chargers are going into such places. Yes, Tesla knows how important having chargers on major interstates is, but to my knowledge, they're the only ones putting chargers in fairly remote locations, i.e., their latest in Quincy, CA.
