It really puts meat on the bones of statements from Sandi Munro and others about how China is going to eat everybody’s lunch in the EV space.

These statements are … jarring!

- The interesting thing - because in the US and maybe even in Europe there’s almost no competition for Tesla - but not here.

- I mean that’s the big theme around here is there’s lots of competition lots and lots of competition and Tesla is not leading the way over here.

- … the only people who buy Teslas [here] are like people who don’t know about cars … it’s like the opposite.

Some of this discussion begins at around the 12 minute mark.

Excuse my ignorance, but why are these Chinese auto makers so technologically advanced.. They seem to encourage EV production, and yet I'm still reading new threads on forum "just got coal rolled"..

I feel like US mentality towards innovation has definitely regressed..

I’d say first imitation (originally when on mission most of what Tesla was doing was open source), sprinkle in some espionage and outright stealing. But after that it’s called math and engineering - which they value and we don’t.

Everybody here wants to be an athlete, actor, influencer, politician or overnight billionaire. Nobody wants to put any work to learn any craft let alone hard ones like engineering!

Abject ignorance is becoming the biggest national threat we face!

We have cognitive dissonance and Dunning–Kruger everywhere we look!

It’s starting to change. Innovators like Elon now have the ear of those who have resisted for years. Change is coming with Elon Musk as our leader.

I think the video merely repeats the same glossy pages of ad material without a deeper look into the tech.

Chinese products in their market don't undergo the same level of testing and liability that they do in the North American and European markets, which is why only a few of the models are exported there.

So it's difficult to know how much is just polish and how much is actual tech.
