Per Tesla's mission statement it is not about how much money they make. They are all about getting EVs to the masses. Do they need to make enough money to stay afloat and to gap any unforseen obstacles, yes.
But they are not out to gouge people who want to buy an EV.
So, I don't think they are trying to make as much money as they can. Right now, I think they are trying to cover costs and get through the CyberTruck ramp.
as a publicly traded company they better be about how much money they make otherwise they wont survive.

Tesla could have just priced the Cybertruck at $100k+ with no accessories and sold well if their only objective was to feed off of the hype.

I agree with those that think there's a threshold for the FS. That threshold represents when production has ramped successfully and they can start pumping out Cybertrucks to the regular queue willing to pay $80k at a significant rate.

Having deferred my invite since December and after being initially bummed/annoyed by FS, it's clear that there's a lot of unfinished work on the CT. After 4-5 months, there's still no autopilot or differential lock. Charging rates are still being improved. The wait for standard orders will end up paying off.

I placed my order on 6-22-2020 which gave me the reservation number of RN113561328 putting my calculated place in line at 817,228.
Yesterday I received my invitation to order a FS Cybertruck.
I'm kinda surprised at the invitation so soon.
Coincidentally, the day before I submitted my documentation for voting my shares of #TSLA in the raffle for the Texas Gigafactory tour with Elon and Franz.
Did voting shares and documenting it bump me up the list?
I would rather have the regular dual motor and qualify for the EV incentive.
