I have FSD. I can’t get trail assist to come on even though I have it checked in the settings. I’m in off-road and press the right scroll wheel. I just get a beep and message that auto steer is not available. I can’t get trail assist to turn on. Is it incompatible with FSD? Is there some special trick to use it if you are a FSD owner?

Trail assist IS off-road FSD. Keeps the wheels churning at constant velocity and adjusts for various conditions but asks you to handle steering. and modulate it with brakes.
My car cannot auto-steer in off-road mode.

I understand what trail assist is. I am asking why I have the toggle for trail assist turned on and I am in off road mode but it acts like I’m trying to use Fsd instead of trail assist. There is no way to turn the damn feature on. Can you tell I’m frustrated that I am following the owners manual on how to enable and use trail assist but it just plain won’t come on. It gives that warning when I click the right scroll wheel and doesn’t engage the trail assist constant speed that I am expecting to happen. I assume it is a bug. I am wondering if others with Fsd have the same issue or if they can give exactly how they engage trail assist.

Are you in Overland mode? It doesn't work in Baja.

No condescension intended. Hard to know what exactly people are asking sometimes.
I have FSD and when I’m in off-road overland mode and going fairly slowly, I press the right scroll wheel exactly as I would engage FSD and it turns on.
You very well may have an issue I’m not familiar with.

Thank you for this. I will try it exactly like this the next time I am at the ranch.
