My wife and I are new EVr's and still learning. My wife and I are in the initial trip planning stages. After the holidays, we'd like to take a break from this frozen tundra and head south by way of our 2024 NFS, CT. The rest of this journal is bullited for ease of reading.

Truck setup - We decided to use the Subscription based FSD option. I've pre-set a route to Lufkin, TX. Curious if FSD offers more efficiency than basic Navigator?

Concern - "The Pucker Factor" - using the basic Navigator, with settings to include Non-Superchargers, each destination stop estimates an arrival as high as 13% remaining battery. Final destination estimate is 9%. While the route is pretty direct, would anyone care to weigh in on possible alternative charging solutions?

Stick with Superchargers, they are the best maintained charging network. You can always look for Superchargers on your route before you get to one it is suggestions. We often change the next charging stop based on snack or restroom needs. It will adjust charging needs after you make your stop but you can always adjust it again whenever you need. I would do the trip in two days. Look for a hotel that has level 2 chargers. It is great to wake up with a good charge to hit the road!

That route looks pretty straight forward with good access to super chargers. I'm new to this as well. I'm pretty cautious(even though the truck's navigation has yet to stear me wrong. Even rolling into Marshall, MN with a predicted 2%..) and for my last charger on a long route I'll stick around for an extra 10-20 minutes to make sure I get to the destination with a decent charge. Mainly for contingency in case I need to go somewhere when I get there and to compensate for increased battery drain from a heavy foot.. Ending on 9%, I'd definitely add a few minutes to the last charge. But again I'm new to this, so I'm curious if others have some better suggestions.
My greatest savoir in rural trips with limited or no super chargers has been clothes dryer plugs at my destinations. I carry a 50' nacs extension for the mobile charger and with 30 amp dryer plug my truck is ready to go in the morning. Just about every house/Airbnb has a dryer. And if it's a friends place, I leave them $20 for "juice". Which more than covers their electricity in the midwest and is considerably cheaper than if I were gassing up anyway.

Download the app PlugShare. It's crowd sourced info about all known charging stations.

We live in MN also and have been driving Teslas across the country since 2017. Back then we only had to worry about Wyoming and North Dakota. There are 4 times as many Tesla SC stations as when we started. You have nothing to worry about, believe me. Learn how to find hotels with destination chargers. Saves time and money. It's a fun new way to travel with only one thing to be concerned about: all the attention the CT will bring. My wife doesn't like this, but I love it.

One other item - I haven’t looked but did the new holiday update bring with it your preferred state of charge upon arrival? This will help you manage your trip so that you arrive with the most charge state possible so the first thing you do when you leave your destination isn’t just simply finding another charger. I have done this manually for years on my last 3 stops on long trips to ensure the best outcome but now that the computer should be able to assist it may help some initial planning.

I also agree that you should 100% stick to superchargers.
