So I’m in the midst of trading in my FS for a new one with free SC. As I was looking at moving over all my accessories, I realized that when Tesla installed my cybertent they never gave me back the original pieces that hold down the aero cover.
Service center says these are not sold as a separate part. I cant bring my trade in to them without the quick release brackets because the aero cover might fly off and hurt someone.
I have removed all the parts from the l-track but now remains the question what to do.
I will not have the two cars simultaneously to swap the parts out because I’m trading it in. I can’t order the quick releases without ordering a new tent apparently.
anyone got any ideas?
also, does anyone remember a search term for the thread that had the video of the unboxing and diy install of the cybertent? I want to see how he put those parts in and can’t find it for whatever reason.

Well that is a conundrum. How quick would it be to swap if you had access to both at the same time? When I did a trade in, they let me have access to both so I could move some things over. They just said “make sure you bring those key cards back in before you leave” and sent me on my way. On that note, as soon as you accept delivery of the new truck, your old one will be removed from your app, so plan for that.

Option 2 would be find someone else with a CT and see if they’ll let you stash your aero cover on their truck for a day. That started as a joke but would totally work. They’ll be getting a brand new one from your new truck.

Both good ideas. Thats why I was looking for that install video which I swear was on here. Wanted to see how fast I could do it. It was a guy who unboxed and installed the tent in his driveway rather than the service center. Can’t seem to find it.
I do have a friend with a truck but he has a urander rack and his water tanks are mounted right on the aero flap. Last resort if I don’t find another solution.

I heard & read somewhere, the newer vin trucks were already getting the wind Sail appliqué updated quick disconnect lever mechanism over the original threaded bolts that needed to be removed & modified in order to install the Cybertent.

I know when I installed my Cybertent the modified wind sail appliqué kit (a separate small box) was inside the box and it had a part # on that box, I saved it and will look to see if I can locate the part# so that maybe you can just order it for yourself.
When I installed mine, I placed the old (original) parts into the little box to save in case I ever had to swap them back.
However as I said, I installed my own Cybertent kit that I purchased as a spare from Bearded Tesla Guy, as he had 2 Cybertent kits and sold the extra one still new in the box for a good discount and even shipped it to me. It works great with the newer instant release levers on that aero cover (what I call windsail appliqué) - (read it in the service manual or somewhere that’s what the original piece was called).

Whoever has these quick release connectors, can you send pics? I know we are trying to get the part number too which will hopefully help. I'm going to a local service center tomorrow to see if I might be able to get paws on a set.

Nice. Did you order that separately?
In the process of getting a quote for this part via message service in app. I’ll let ya know what I find out.
I bought a used tent, this box with part number was included. However the box contained the spare parts from the original owner/install truck. Not the retrofit parts.

Thanks. Going in for service at the end of the month. May add this if the price is right.
