Ok, seriously now. I take it you are a perspective first time Tesla owner?

Tesla do not operate like traditional auto manufacturers where you have fixed year models with set features. Instead, think of them like smartphones, constantly evolving. For example, if you buy a 2024 Model 3 early in the year, the one someone else buys later that same year might have subtle (or even significant) hardware differences, like an updated component or, at times, a full-on refresh.

Here’s how I recommend approaching it: Ask yourself, "For the model I’m interested in, is there an upcoming major refresh or redesign expected?"

If the answer is no: You’re good to go! Config, order, and enjoy.
If the answer is yes: It very well might be worth waiting (I would say it is).

Take the Model Y, for instance. It’s an incredible vehicle as it stands right now, but with a widely anticipated refresh on the horizon, waiting could make sense if you’re not in a rush.

The beauty of Tesla, though, is that most updates, especially software related ones are delivered over-the-air (OTA). So unless it’s a total hardware refresh, you’ll get to enjoy all the latest features as they roll out.

Considering this is the CT forum. I would not expect any MAJOR upgrades in that sense anytime soon so....... https://www.tesla.com/cybertruck/design#overview

Cheers!
Very well said! I’m not looking for upgrades per se, more just the ironing out the early production bugs. Seems common comments refer to a “tighter and quieter” units in later VIN’s..

Yep, so as far as the CT is concerned. Config and place your order. There will not be any new HW based changes for sometime and if so nothing of major significance. Lastly, should you encounter an issue it's all covered so let's say if you are worried about the inverter situation I would dare say mfg changes are in place already around that so again...config, order, and take delivery so we can see it...go go go...

I know you’re right, just trying to understand the process.
Pretty much like any other car manufacturer.

Wait, most dealers order their vehicles in big lots and let them sit for a long time before moving to the sales lot.

I think the current units are already “tighter and quieter”. My VIN is 51xxx. It’s super solid.
