SpaceX Cybertruck has a nice ring to it.

Combining Elon's companies would get rid of some conflict of interest concerns.

Please please Tesla, take both public by acquiring SpaceX and X.ai!!
Keep in mind that Tesla made a $2B investment in xAI prior to this acquisition by SpaceX, thanks to us shareholders voting for it.

Now Tesla has a very valuable chunk of ownership in the combined entity. Even if it IPO's on its own, Tesla comes out a big winner.

The vertical integration play is insanely good on paper:

xAI needs compute and energy.
Tesla makes compute (AI4/5/6/dojo), soon to have Terafab. Tesla also makes solar panels.
SpaceX designs orbital satellites and delivers compute and panels to sun-synchronous orbit.
xAI gets massive compute and unlimited energy from the sun.
SpaceX gets customers with unlimited demand.

It was actually voted down by Tesla bylaws. No vote= no, but it was an investor vote, not a board recommended vote, so it was ignored.

Also, almost 0 chance in terafab. It would be more of a failure than Dojo. Chip fabs are insanely expensive and fail often. Look at the Intel failure.

Most believe Elon is saying that to pump the stock and to get bargaining power with TMSC and Samsung. There's a rumor that Samsung may build a US fab for just Tesla demand now.

I think Terafab will happen. But we'll see. Everything Elon does is insanely expensive and likely to fail. Yet here we are.

I disagree.

52% of revenue was from US credits/rebates last year. They won't get them this year. Tesla will increase their $20b spending to ramp RT and Optimus. Spending 30-50b on a chip fab would hinder the rest of the plans without taking on massive debt.

I think it's more corporate puffery. There will be a 2 year moat (which Tesla has basically said themselves) before RT pushes significant money and Optimus is even relevant. By that time Samsung and TSMC will have US production at least started and a fab would be as irrelevant as DOJO. I think it's a smart play to say it, but think the Model 2 has a better chance of seeing the light of day (it's dead).

Elon has the tenacity to fail as long as he has to in order to succeed. Look at FSD and Dry cathode 4860's. But I'd agree it's also likely a bargaining point, till it's not.

Tesla is designing the AI5/AI6 silicon, of course they are going to somehow end up with SpaceX/Xai, Elon tweeted a few days ago "All my X's, live in Texas". He fully intends to combine all the Muskian companies

Imagine this timeline:

All of his companies merge. They consolidate into two divisions:

Tesla FSD, xAI become the software division.

SpaceX, Tesla vehicles and robotics, Neuralink, Boring Company become the hardware division.

The best part is no part.
