great publicity for the company in the Chinese market. I watched much of one of the videos with all the mall/pedestrian footage, and I think the truck is universally head-turning--no matter what continent you're on!

I have never been to China but it surprises me how many signs have both English and Chinese text on them. It was like that when I went to India, but I know that is the result of the English occupation.

hmm, CT was called "赛博越野旅行车“ which means "Cyber Off-road Utility Vehicle". It was not called "truck".
China has strict regulations against pickup trucks and it is not allowed in most cities, especially for non-commercial usage. It is Tesla China's marketing strategy to call it a "SUV" instead a pickup truck.

A lot of fans there.
Tesla is like iPhone to lead the trend there and a lot of local EV makers following Tesla to squeeze gas cars out of the market now. In China, more than 1/3 new cars are EVs, and total sale number is more than 30 million, US is 15.5 million.

Pretty wild some of the crowds that showed up to see it, it is also great PR for them hiring for the Tesla factories over there. Who wouldn't want to work on cool cars/trucks like that?

So unlike Japan where I used travel frequently on business.
I would often get lost so I stop trying to use their trains and just get a taxi. And I had ro show my hotel's calling card or written address for the driver to know where I'm going.
Tesla's costumers would have been better served to have given the Cybertruck to those waiting for their units.
Cybertruck is not be allowed to be driven in China.
It's all publicity as Chinese EVs are eating Tesla's lunch.
