I didn't know you had to be of a culture to eat the food. Tacos are just easy street food. Even easier than burgers.

My relatives from the "heartland of middle America" visited me in Austin, so I took them to Chuy's for some Tex-Mex. They were bewildered by the menu, couldn't stomach the very mild "creamy jalapeno" sauce nor salsa, and asked for ketchup.

To be fair, I wouldn't know what to do with Pierogis or Persimmon Pudding

You eat it! A pierogi is just a hand-pie, or dumpling, which is a pretty common food the world 'round. I had a great savory hand-pie made with pastry dough at the local bakery here in Rockaway Beach thi week. If you're ever here, the culinary gems are the bake shop and the pronto pups ^-^ Tho the new Mexican restaurant was awesome; they were packed and knew how to make things spicy (tho their standard drinks were on the sweet side.)
