Has anyone with a Founder’s invite actually talked to Tesla about the process if you want to wait for the non-founder’s version?

I too am debating. I have been on that order page few times now with tempting finger to push confirm order. But I really just want the All-Wheel-Drive and get the tax credit. And would hope that Tesla is still honoring the $7k FSD option. So that would save $20k for the same truck basically (minus accessories and laser etching).

I wish we could know if we deny the Foundation, how long the wait is (I’m like 5-6k in line)

There have been a ton of folks posting about their orders on Reddit. Many more than I have seen on here.
Care to share the link?

This is from my "Manage your reservation" page. Give them a call and maybe they'll help you. If so, let us know!

From the other thread:

Went to Dallas — Cedar Springs store. Associate wasn’t sure (of course) but their suggestion to me was if I don’t want the founders and want to wait for the standard AWD to not go through to the design phase of the offer and just ‘leave it’ and my “place in line” *should* remain in tact since my RN should remain. Notice all the conditional-speak.

They were more definitive that if I put in the order and then back out after paying the order fee now my RN is converted to an order number and that can’t be restored.

I want to know definitively that if I leave it (I don’t see a decline option) that in 1-2 months time I’ll be offered to configure the standard edition. Hopefully someone credible provides that info.

If it’s take-it-or-leave-it back to the back of the line then I will reluctantly take it so I don’t have to wait until 2025 to get the offer to design again ? I just can’t see them doing that to the early reservers though.

Doesn't seem like you would be forced, but rather are just getting the option. If a Founders edition is 20k more, I would want to see a list of included features that are unique to the Founders edition, besides just some laser etching on the fender surface.

Likely (I would hope) there are some special benefits and features, such as Premium Connectivity, Lifetime Supercharging, and FSD included, as a minimum for that extra 20k premium. That premium is worth the price of the Range Extender and them some. Maybe they're offering choices of free accessories too? To me a Founders edition has to mean something tangible more than a just a low VIN and laser etching. My 2¢.

there is lifetime connectivity but not lifetime supercharging

I wish Tesla did what they used to do which is open it up for configuration fully and have Foundation as an option for earlier delivery but still let us actually select what we want and give those ETAs as well.

so we could see foundation deliveries December to March, All wheel drive March-May, etc etc
