I've been watching this forum for quite some time now trying to figure out the rollout and when we'd possibly get the CT...I told myself I'd post when we got a VIN to get the into out there and share, so just joined and here goes!

VIN received in Tucson today! I'm excited, by husband is beyond excited;-). We don't work for Tesla and aren't affiliated with them - just like cool tech stuff. My husband is an early adopter of so many tech things, so I enjoy all the best tech with his hard work and research. We currently own a Model X and a Model Y. In the past, we have owned an early Model X and Model 3. Owned Teslas in five different states and have driven across the country several times. Also have Tesla Solar.

I drove to Mesa to peak, saw nothing. They haven’t called me yet for my delivery so I’ll ask when they do! So cool to see a truck of them here like that!!!

I was at my local service center when I got my VIN and the guy I was talking to says they’re issued when the truck is entering production. My understanding from here and reading online is that it’s issued when the truck is completed. Just wanted verification cause your truck couldn’t be in a rail yard a few hours after receiving your vin if it was entering production lol. Thanks.

There could be a few different scenarios couldn’t there be? What if someone who is assigned a VIN decides not to complete payment. Or doesn’t accept delivery? If the truck is already sitting at Mesa wouldn’t it just go to the next person in line in which case you could get a VIN and possibly schedule delivery for the same day.

He is absolutely wrong.

VIN is not customer assigned until the vehicle is completed and factory gated. Meaning totally done and cleared of all production.

The people at the service centers are usually completely wrong about almost everything related to how the company operates and even the products they are selling ... I wouldn't take much they say as factual.
