Looks like the mobile charger is getting an upgrade!

Tesla site code says that it can handle 18miles/hour on 220 and 3 on traditional plug.

It also shows a cap of 32A and is labeled as Powershare mobile connector.

Idk if that's 32A is both directions. Would make sense i suppose.

Anyone already have a 220v 14-50 generator hookup?

Other interpretation could be from 220v in vault to another tesla. but that's less awesome

I googled and this thread was the closest I could find on the topic! I just received another email from Tesla which stated
Thank you for completing the Powershare Home Backup survey. Because you already have Powerwall installed, your home is on the way to being fully configured for Home Backup.

To finalize your Home Backup setup, you need to have home charging backed up by your Powerwall. When using Powerwall, Home Backup is compatible with any home charging unit, but 240V charging will provide the best experience. Our recommended home charging solution is either Wall Connector or Universal Wall Connector.
I have a 14-50 at home that I use a standard mobile connector on to charge our vehicles. I'm too chicken to try and have no knowledge of the matter, hence turning to the forum for informed replies: does that mean that since my whole house is backed up on Powerwall, I can use the Cybertruck mobile PowerShare connector (not just a wall connector or universal wall connector) and it'll accomplish the same purpose with no other setting or finagling by an installer or by myself in the app?

Theoretically it could. As long as your power wall is willing to accept power from it. We've seen people power their house with the 1450

I just dug up the old thread that you're referring to. I guess there's only one way to tell...main reason I ask is because I'm afraid the 24' wall connector isn't long enough, so I'm reluctant to install one.

If it's not installed yet, just install it closer to where you need it. Adds up though I suppose. Maybe they could convert your 14-50 if you're wiring is right

I'm pretty sure that you can't use that cord.

yeah, I’m going to need a longer run. I can’t back in meaningfully to my driveway based on the width of the street and the raised planters I have. I mean, I could probably drive over my lawn… but the next best option will have to be mounting the hpwc in a more accessible location of the garage.

I just plugged it in and you’re right, nothing looks any different in the app or in the car. I was hoping it would be otherwise because the adapter is literally called a “powershare mobile connector,” AND because it has a different exterior design than the usual ones shipped with other Teslas that you can actually buy online.

Tesla is never going to turn power on to exposed metal pins with no communications to confirm that they are plugged in. Aside from not being stupid, UL won't approve it.

Tesla will never allow Powershare in the Powershare mobile adapter? I suppose they could have an adapter that flips it to another connector but they will allow power out the mobile Powershare adapter. Otherwise it wouldn't have that name.

My guess would be they make an adapter that goes in here and has a female port of some kind. Which someone could then put a suicide cable on if they so chose

No, they aren't going to let you create a suicide cable. There will have to be communications to tell the truck that all of the safety checks have been performed and that it is okay to apply power.

Too much liability.

They don't do that for the 240v nema 14-50. Why would it be different? They won't be able to tell what you plug into the cable. After the outlet adapter is on.

For example, if they add a female 14-50 outlet adapter to the end you can put whatever in there.

But the NEMA 14-50 adapter for the mobile adapters doesn't have exposed male pins does it?

But you can put a cord into it that does can't you?

Any outlet that they provide can have a cable with exposed pins put into it if the user decides to do that
