I also got a lot of haters back in day when I owned a Lamborghini Countach. I was broke down on the side of the road with it once, and people were laughing at me and saying things like, “aren’t you rich enough to afford a tow truck?” I’ve since sold it and hope the Cybertruck won’t get similar reactions.
Countach is my all time favorite!

Countach is my all time favorite!
This is exactly why I ordered a Cybertruck. It reminds me so much of my old Countach, but with far more practicality.

I noticed the same thing about the weekend! Don't really get negative responses (at least in Florida), but people are a lot more excited and interactive on the weekend.

It is kinda strange. I’ve literally had only three negative reactions here in Utah in the pas 7 weeks I’ve had this thing. All three teenagers. Teenagers gets hate everything including themselves so I was just like, meh…. ??

That being said, getting approached aggressively like that dude did at your hand of sucks and I’d have been pissed too.

I believe it depends on what part of the Country/City you are in. Exotics are a dime a dozen in my neck of the woods so driving one is seamless most of the time. The few CTs I have seen parked were viewed in good light. In a few years it will be just another Tesla product. I drive my Ferrari Pista on weekends because it’s crazy on weekdays.

I’ve driven Teslas for 10 years and have heard every joke or criticism about the cars. None of it bothered me. It’s not my only car so driving my S once a week is really enjoyable. Perfect balance of vehicles (for me) is a Tesla model S (plaid) gen 3 Raptor, and an exotic car (Ferrari F8) just sold my Raptor and got my CYBERTRUCK. Absolutely love it and is the best Tesla yet. I’m completely used to the attention the exotic cars get (both negative and positive) I always encourage kids to sit in the Ferrari and have their parents take a photo. This happened to me when I was 10. Sat in one with my dad and said “one day I’m buying a ferrari” I hope I’m encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs by doing this. I love cars and like talking to other enthusiasts.

Here is the comparison of driving the Ferrari VS Cybertruck. The Ferrari in general nobody gives a shit unless you are at a car show. I would get flipped off in it once in awhile and realized an important factor. Only drive it on the weekends. Only time I ever had a negative reaction in the Ferrari was when I was driving during the week and never on the weekends! I figured it’s something to do with people are pissed off at their jobs and have the Monday blues, and happy on the weekends? So I ended up not driving it Monday-Wednesday. I had a woman come up to me thinking she wanted to talk about how beautiful the car is (I mean the F8 is a gorgeous car!) but this woman full on goes really negative about why would I buy such a thing, the problems of massive wealth hoarding, income inequality.., she goes on and on… I told her I worked hard for this, it was a childhood dream, and by spending $400k on a car REALLY creates a lot of taxes and creates jobs. It was really bizarre to me how someone gets so worked up on someone’s purchase of a car.

Sooo now Cybertruck. Irvine delivery on Sunday: there was a Palestinian protest with easy 400 people there. They were not protesting Tesla, but this guy comes over to me with his camera on me while I’m taking delivery and starts yelling “fuck Tesla, they are a bad bad company, they are anti union” and lots of other bullshit while yelling and flipping me off. I just pretended not to hear him and continue with my delivery. I went from having goosebumps seeing my truck with my name on it to “get me the fuck out of here” I literally had zero time to talk to the delivery team. It’s hard to brush off assholes! But then there are genuinely happy reactions from kids, teens, neighbors. All of my (non Tesla) car friends all say it’s growing on them. They drive it and say wow, wasn’t expecting to like it this much! So I’m hoping the negativity is temporary.

I personally hated it on 11/22/2019 but the more I read about it, and got used to the design the more and more I liked it, and then LOVED it. It’s my favorite vehicle to drive! I was expecting the middle finger from the anti Tesla people, but not expecting people telling me “you’re an asshole get a real car, that thing is such a piece of shit!” That happened yesterday! Im really trying to not let it get to me, but I would NEVER say something like this to a stranger. What is wrong with people?! Staying positive though… haters gonna hate I guess, it’s a rad truck and absolutely love it. Getting windows tinted today and satin black wrap next week.

BEAUTIFUL CARS - both of them.
I would consider wrapping the CT in Ferrari red also ! LOL. (or conversely the Ferrari in Stainless Steel metallic)..

There are three kinds of people in the world when they see a very expensive nice car
- Those who are inspired to work harder (like most everyone here)
- Those who are haters and get upset (perhaps given up on themselves or have been subjected by someone evil with power - perhaps people who have Lumberg for a boss)
- Those who dont even know the car (These people are the most detestable. Car ignorance is not forgiveable. Bias is acceptable)

I have been flipped, ridiculed, made fun for my choices so many times. I have learnt it the hard way - if you have something that others don’t, then they will either admire and follow you or hate you. This applies to knowledge, money, status, credibility, talent.. lots of things. It’s just their own insecurity for various reasons, hard upbringing being the most prominent one. They just don’t know how to navigate their negative emotions. Probably their parents did the same. Lack of good role models I guess or probably genetics. Who cares! It’s not our problem. Don’t give a S***. You have earned your toys. Many die to be in your position. Don’t let the world tell you what you have to do with your life and money. Tell them GFY, with lot of empathy of course! ?

It seems more of a liberal trigger at this point. I think most people, especially kids, are pretty excited when they see a cool car, and notably the CT. There will always be mentally unstable people everywhere, but even a month after delivery every day someone seems to get a bit of a lift from seeing the CT and that’s a mutually positive thing so just keep on doing your thing and all will be well.

Pre-Covid driving an exotic car was generally accepted, I previously owned an R8 (Sold in 2020) and I never encountered any negative reactions. However, given the current economic climate, I would not drive something exotic (sports car over 200k). Recently, a friend took his GT3rs to a local Cars and Coffee and it was keyed. It's important to recognize that many people are struggling financially, especially in SoCal with the cost of living so expensive. Seeing a vehicle worth multiple times their annual income can understandably stir resentment. While it’s true that many of us have worked hard to enjoy these luxuries, we must also be sensitive to the broader societal context.
No. Don't make excuses for envy, hate and jealousy of others because you don't have something they do. There is no excuse. That behavior should be condemned by everyone, and never, ever, excused. If you don't like your situation, change it. Period.

Don't blame someone else for your lack of success. It isn't their fault. It is yours. You should find out what they did to be successful, and try to do the same, if that is what you want. If you don't, and you are angry at them, you are the problem, not them.
