Hi everyone,
On Dec. 14 2024, I had a problem with my purchase of the CyberTracker maybe some one out there known a persone in a higher possision that I can talk to about this issue. Now my story.

1. I reserved the CyberTruck in 2019. I received notice in Oct. - Nov. 2024 that my truck was coming up for purchase soon.
2. I went to the website to make final section on the options and make additional payment on the truck.
3. I printed out the "Moter Vehicle Purchase Agreement " and followed all the information it that I needed to do including the payment procedures in it that stated I could pay by Wire or by Cashers Check.
4. I choose the Casher Check an got one.
5. Two days before I was to get my truck I was notified that Tesla needed a wire of the money after I got the check. I notified them that I had a check as per their Purchase agreement.
6. At the distribution center the GM stated that they could not sell me the Truck that I needed to make a wire transfer on a Saterday and it would take up to 7 days for them to receive it.

I asked the GM if I could talk to someone higher since I had the their Purchase Agreement and the Check as outlined in the contract and she was not going to help me at all. This has been going on since 12/14/24 and I have tryed to get in contact with anyone but everything goes through Text mail or to and automated system that comes back with a form letter.

Does anyone out there know of someone in the Tesla company that can help. I am still interested in buying but if they can change a purchase agreement it makes me worried that can change any agreement that is written.

Anyone give me your thoughts on this matter or a person that I can contact higher then the GM of the Distribution Center.

Thanks
Gary

Are you able to communicate in the Tesla app?

That's a weird one. I purchased mine in October '24, also per reservation from October '19. I submitted the order as soon as I got the notice that I can order a non-Foundation truck in October. About two weeks later I got a message they're ready for delivery appointment and the next slot is... in TWO business days. Payment options were Cashier's check or EFT. I did the EFT ONE business day before the delivery appointment, and I had no issues getting the truck.

Yes, it was weird to have my contract terminated by the GM of the Distribution Center ( PJ Verica) here in Aurora Colorado without cause since I had the Cashers Check in hand for more than the amount I owed on the Truck. Her excuse that it takes 3 to 7 days for a wire transfer to be in their bank and that is not right as well.

I have called their customer service number and only got a recording to leave a message before my deliver date (I did so) and texted through their app and emailed them to their email for problems dept. To date the only one that I was able to talk to or get any reply was the GM other than a form letter with them asking me to contact another department that will not answer me other than a form letter that gets me back to the roundabout I have been in since the end of Nov. 2024.

It looks like Tesla is maybe good at technology but Very very poor on customer service.

I can talk to the IRS and get answers from people that can make hard decisions on problems better than Tesla.

So if any of you know of a contact person that is higher up than a GM of the Distribution Center, please let me know. I have even texted/ emailed Elon Musk on X / Twiter for an answer and again NO RESPONCE.

Thanks Everyone

One Last thing this whole problem makes me feel if I have to fight this hard to be able to buy one of their products Just how hard will I have to work to get them to honor their Warranties. This was my first time trying to buy any electric vehicle.

NOT A GOOD START!!!! LOL

I tried and got nothing back other than form letters.

I hope that you can see that my comments at the bottom I took other avenues to communicate with Tesla like emails them, calling them on their customer service number and about everything but sending up smoke signals. to resolve this problem.

One of the primary issues is state law. To make my purchase in Texas, I had to mail a check to California.

IDK the issues in Colorado, tho ?‍♂

My general take on this is that someone who can’t spell “cashiers check” is trying to buy a tech car. Pay by wire transfer and you’ll get it. You don’t sound the brightest on the latest tech, which this is.

Note that a Wire Transfer is not the same thing as the EFT.

The comment about “tech” is valid, and the CT has A LOT of tech to come to grips with. But it’s such a fun truck to drive! I hope you get the truck. Just have a healthy expectation about taking your time to learn all the amazing aspects and unique talents of your truck.

You should ask the GM at the location the name and email address of the regional sales manager for that location.

you should keep records of every interaction you have with the sales team at the location, including names, dates, and times.

you should send an email to the regional sales manager explaining the situation, include the interactions you've had with the sales team at your delivery center and ask for clarification on the process, and why your payment method is being denied by the delivery center.

if your order has been cancelled, and you have not received a refund, you have 2 options: given Tesla unilaterally canceled your order, when you attempted in good faith to follow through, they breeched the contract and therefore owe you a refund.
However, if you still intend on taking delivery of a Cybertruck, i would ask the regional manager to reinstate your order and either speak to the service center that you are trying to take delivery at or move it to a delivery center that will adhere to the MVPA as written and accept your Cashier’s check as final payment.

if I recall correctly, I was told that final payments larger than $50,000 MUST be made by wire transfer, which does take some days to clear.

Again, this is false. Wire transfers are available next business day. Tesla App is setup to use EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer), not Wire transfers. EFTs are available within 2 business days.

The timeline for above was

Payment made (via Tesla App) on Oct 18th (Friday)
Delivery appointment on October 21st (Monday)

I did a wire transfer and my transaction was flawless and quick (one or two days if I remember). Strange never dealing/speaking with a human for a vehicle purchase and having to go thru a heated price negotiation process.......but I liked it. Hope you get your CT. Hang in there.

You emailed Elon Musk on X? And he didn't respond?

Help us out with further context by screenshotting all the correspondence with Tesla. Maybe we can help you figure things out.

He needs to start by explaining to us why the cashier’s check is for more than he owes on the vehicle? ‘Cause that’s not how cashier’s check transactions work. Or purchases! Or using cashiers check to purchase a vehicle. Or anything!

Right now, nothing is making a lot of sense (grammar/syntax included) other than the GM being concerned about this particular cashier’s check since it’s was not written for the amount due! Why?!?! The overpayment would require Tesla to refund you … what … some cash? They’re not set up to do that!

So, let’s start with why your cashier’s check wasn’t for the exact amount due (which is what I’ve always done in the past, without issue), sir?
