I'll never forget my first drive home in June 2024 with my Cyberbeast I had a vehicle approaching where a guy stood up through a sunroof of a shitbox that was going 45+ mph, and flicked me off with both hands. Not only that, but the driver also stuck his hand out flicking me off too. Was hilarious then, still is today.

That said, this vandalism stuff is getting out of control. Screw these people that are messing with dealerships, charging stations, and people's vehicles. Arson, shootings, keying, markers, etc. It's just out of control.

Today I had a teenager yelling at my Cyberbeast, I couldn't make out what he was saying, but he seemed not happy so I'm assuming it was negative. A week ago though there was a young kid that you would have thought won the lottery he was so excited to see it, was just so hyped up, so at least there's that.

A lot of people out there that need some serious help. I'm worried that eventually these actions will lead to someone getting hurt (either the owner by a mentally ill weirdo, or an owner that reacts too harshly to the damage of their property). I hope not, but seriously.. we're talking felony level escalations against innocent people over feelings about a CEO.

My truck was just vandalized with acid. I’m beyond frustrated with this nonsense.

In Seattle alone, my truck has been kicked three times, leaving scuffs. A trans man (full beard) in women’s clothing though it was ok to urinate on it. Beer’s been poured on it. A drunk idiot jumping backwards on the frunk. And to top it off, a women threw her bloody tampon on it. Now, acid damage. It’s infuriating.

All of this happens when I’m not around. I haven’t looked too much into involving the police because, honestly, I don’t expect much more than a useless report. There’s no way to identify people on the street, and it feels like nothing would come of it.

It would be great if Tesla made an update to alert owners of sentry mode activations or even a feature where the truck reacts more aggressively when triggered—especially for the Cybertruck. It’s ridiculous that in a city filled with Teslas, the Cybertruck is the only one getting targeted. Clearly, it’s because of political reasons or just people hating on Elon. I’m sick of it.

The CT is GREAT! I hated EVs before getting the CT. The CT is easy to drive and responds MUCH BETTER than my Lincoln. I wish that the CT was a little shorter since it sticks out of parking spaces.

Guess I was naive. But in 2019. Never thought the experience of owning this would be like how it is now. Sad really. Was really happy and excited in 2019 preordering this. I knew mot everyone liked it. But the childish, mentally ill reactions I did not expect. Naive on my part.

We probably were all in the same boat. It was just a really fun and exciting concept.

Had I known this would happen I would have just waited it out and maybe bought a 10-20 year old vehicle for the time being.

I don’t think that any of us would have been able to predict the world/political landscape today in 2019. I don’t think you’re naïve, just somewhat unlucky with the way things have turned out.

Joe Walsh could add a new line to his song:

? My Cybertruck’s the coolest truck on the road; people laugh at me and they call me a chode!

Life’s been good to me so faaaar! ?

It's been done before. People will find a reason to do outrageous things in the name of some sort of outrageous belief system.

Hummer H2 and other SUV's suffered political terrorism back in the day.

ELF attacks

2003!

"In the California attack last month, 20 H2 Hummers were destroyed and another 20 were damaged at a cost of $2.5 million. Vandals scribbled "ELF" and "I (heart) pollution" on the vehicles. A security camera captured pictures of two suspects."

I will never understand these types of people who think it's a good thing to hate on Elon. Very misguided, often they have real metal health issues like this transgender guy:

Transgender Identifying Man Arrested for Allegedly Planning to Bomb a Colorado Tesla Dealership - The Maine Wire
Based on what I know about Elon, he is not going back off and leave whatever he is doing, even if that burns down Tesla. The only way to address this is to get super strict with law and order. Cause-effect is the only thing people with mental disorders understand. The biggest problem with people like this is that they don’t think they have a problem. That’s the mother of all problems! If they spend a few years in jail, it’ll clearly make then realize to get some help. Unhealthy emotional regulation that could harm someone or their property is a serious mental health problem, and they need help through tough Love!

I’m also in NJ. The vibe has definitely changed and is more mixed. For me at least. In May 2024 there was definitely more love shown and amusement. Since the Elon debacle I have gotten a few misdirected hate. Just last month an old lady thought it was wise to cross the street while screaming at me about how I was an Elon supporter and a Nazi! No idea who she was. First time to experiencing that and it was a bit nerve racking!

I am just a few miles outside Scranton PA ( yes like the TV show The Office) and have had nothing but positive interactions with people since getting my truck in early December. My friend and I picked up his 10 year old son from school and that was absolute chaos in a good way. I ski every few days and everyone comes over to look and ask questions while i am getting my gear together. Going to the grocery store almost always involves a show and tell. Even had a guy knock on my door when the truck was in my driveway. Yeah this is a heavy conservative area so I am not surprised by my experiences vs. someone on the west coast.

This truck will always be associated with this moment, that gesture, this man and the other one.
Oh, if I had a nickel for every time someone rolled up to my DeLorean demanding to know if I "found the cocaine in the trunk". (There was never cocaine, and John DeLorean was acquitted.)

Of course, I get a similar number of "can you travel in time" and "wtf is that, did you build it yourself" questions lol.

So I guess what we really need is family-fun movie starring the Cybertruck. Probably won't be Disney after what Elon said about them, but somebody call Spielberg!

You confirmed exactly what I was thinking. I’m guessing anybody who has a Corvair/Pinto probably hears a bunch of shit about Ralph Nader too. It’s just the way things are. It will never go away.

When these cars are antiques, Jay Leno’s great-grandson will STILL be talking about EM and all the controversy.

100% agree with the other piece -“Cars V” featuring “CeeBee.” He’s just a misunderstood gentle giant ala the Iron Giant!

Definitely changing for the negative, especially up in the northwest based on my seven months of ownership. I go to Canada regularly as well as I’m near the border. Canadians have loved the truck on a recent trip received a negative. And that was pre-tariff. I don’t care I like the truck. It’s been great for me, actually flawless, but it does get wearing so we should not discount that as part of the ownership experience.

Also, my point of view is that it has nothing to do with jealousy. A lot of people in this forum are quick to claim that the negative feedback is from jealousy or in part, I don’t think it’s really that at all. I think it’s mostly tied to politics and Elon.
