I’m in a similar boat as you. I don’t even take it to the grocery store. It’s my shuttle between my home and vacation home. It goes garage to garage. I will take it to a restaurant as long as I am parked near the entrance and can keep an eye on it. The one time I went to a restaurant and parked it around a corner, some punk assed fools messed with it (no damage luckily). Until the social network echo chamber moves on to its next target, I will unfortunately be using my Fords for when I have to run errands.

if Tesla would allow the damned app to give alerts on Sentry motion (I don’t care if it’s a lot of notifications), then I would feel better about leaving the CT alone as I could exit a Home Depot or grocery store in seconds and throw down on the perp.
Yeah, this is what I’m talking about and it’s total bullshit. I have to think about where I take this car. I do not like that. I’ve never experienced that before.

At first, it was just us CT owners and now the contagion is spreading to Teslas in general. My daughter has a M3P and she is now concerned about leaving at places.

As a young person she’s more likely to be places where the types of people who are vandalizing these cars are going to be. People also seem to keep missing the obvious implications of what’s happening. Tesla is losing generations of buyers. The cars are no longer cool.

If I, one of the biggest I don’t give a fuck what you think people on the planet, now have thoughts about whether it’s prudent to take my vehicle here or there I can tell you that normal ppl are gonna stop buying these trucks!

We got a bunch of brash a-holes here (myself included) who aren’t going to let anybody influence their decision-making, but that’s not most people. And even for me, I need to make sure that my car doesn’t get vandalized because I don’t wanna be in a situation where I’m likely to overreact. And I am likely to overreact.

NOT GOOD!

I got all of my most negative interactions outside of bars/ breweries (understandably). You should be good with a quick grocery store trip. ESPECIALLY a trip to home depot! We gotta own the fact that we drive these bad ass trucks...

Not in my town. It’s a deep blue college town.

Trust me, it’s not fear for my truck. It’s the headache of having to deal with the aftermath. It’s the same as @dalton108 said… it’s that I may take a pipe to someone’s skull or kneecaps for spray painting or attempting to key the vehicle, and have to deal with not only cleaning/repairing my truck, but possibly the legal consequences of permanently hurting someone.

I hate to say it… it’s coming soon. Someone is going to mess with another guys truck and get caught in the act, and we are going to be reading about what happened in the news. I don’t want to be that guy.

I'm going to a local event where my truck will be parked and unattended for several hours this weekend. Obviously I have sentry mode and a huge thumb drive ready to go to document what happens, but it will be at a place that tends to attract more colorful individuals. I'm hoping for absolutely nothing to happen, would have already had people write stupid things on the side of my truck in the grime.

Has anyone ever tried putting up a "smile you're on camera" sign or something to that effect? I don't want to have to deal some dunce thinking they're being cute And then have it turn into a whole thing with the event hosts.
My beast with sentry mode on all the time when parked lights up when an event is detected and the sentry Owl displays on the screen, which tends to wake folks up, plus if I'm watching on my app, I usually speak over the trucks speaker to really startle them.......

Is the event large enough to have security? Go ask them if nicely if there is any possible way you can park in the vendor area (or similar). Offer test drives, tip money, etc.

Tell them you aren't looking for special treatment for vanity reasons, but would appreciate any help. They will probably find something for you. Otherwise, park as close to the event doors/gate as possible. The higher the foot traffic, the better.

Also, a fitted car cover would be a nice addition if you have one (Be sure to cut out the sentry camera areas!!)

Wow! I guess even a broken clock can have a good idea twice a day … or something like that?

*I also considered mentioning a cover, but it just seems like such a hassle.

Also just remembered this neat little trick:

Find a local homeless dude and offer him money to guard your vehicle. Bring him food and water too.

Actually, had that kind of arrangement (from time to time) at one of my old office locations!

The event is quite literally going to be at a place that sells spray paint and art supplies so I think my concern is a little valid here.
Oh dear haha. I’m not paranoid, but do you have another vehicle option for this event?

I know this is probably not entirely feasible, but I wish you could hook up a small solar powered electric fence charger to the body of the truck. Stainless isn't the best conductor, but it would be a deterrent if somebody went to touch your truck and got a little jolt. I guess growing up on the farm we messed around with those things more than we should have. Would make the sentry videos more entertaining.

No security, it's a parking lot situation that has the usual disclaimers about vehicle damage and items. I think the one saving grace here is that I'm pretty well known in the community and I know the owners of the facility and the event operators very well so any nonsense would result in an instant banning from the premises.

It's why I think the camera sign might help, despite the fact that it makes a prominent display and a noise, people don't care and unless you're actually looking at a certain angle through the front windows you won't even see the screen indicator.

I guess I just have to hope for the best and rely on everything being documented.

? if that's the case, then here is what I would do:

Go buy a bunch of "car safe" markers, park in a prominent area of the parking lot, put them in a bucket long with a signpost that says something like:

"These are car safe markers in the bucket. If you feel compelled to express your political frustrations in a destructive manner, please don't. But here is an option to do so non-destructively. Write your message, let it out, don't harm my vehicle, and I will wash it off after the event. Or write a message of support and peace ☮. Please consider donating for the cost of the markers. I am the only one making this available at this single event, please do not touch anyone else's vehicle.

I have a livestream running in addition to Sentry Mode (with remote viewing capability). I am also paying someone to visibly watch over this truck for the duration that it is here. Don't be a jerk
".

It would obviously be a bold move, but hey... maybe it will turn out to be the ultimate uno-reverse card. And if it get enough attention, it would be a huge PR boost for us all. Recruit your friends and family to assist.

You could livestream it as well from your phone, secured inside of your truck (make sure you turn the bluetooth off so someone can't open your doors).

Nah. I love my truck and I'm not going to let people intimidate me into not enjoying it every moment I have available.

I have insurance (and a particular set of skills should I ever be unlucky enough to have to use them).

Absolutely 100% cannot do this, and for various reasons... most of all being curious little kids love touching things.
