I'm not sure why people think this guy is going to get the book thrown at him for keying a car. I can't find any reference to that kind of vandalism being a class A felony in NH, but rather a class A misdemeanor or class B felony based on damage. Unless this guy already has a criminal record, he's probably going to get probation and have to pay restitution. It's the destruction of his career and reputation that these people should be scared of.

Could easily be a felony based on the amount of monetary damages to property, done with malicious intent, and also lying to law enforcement.

If I were them, I would be demanding the entire truck be resurfaced on his dime. And court order it i he doesn't immediately comply.
